35 payloads move to tooling/scripts/blender/ and stay outside package scope.
They run under Blender's bundled Python, which cannot see the repo venv, so
they physically cannot import tooling.core — holding them to the D-263 contract
would either fail the gate forever or force the contract to be weakened for
everyone, and the second is how a gate stops meaning anything.
Count verified by import rather than filename: 33 import bpy/bmesh directly,
and the two that do not are still payloads per their own usage lines.
garment-fit/make_logo.py is the one genuine non-payload and stays for T-1290.
The bash wrapper is retired rather than kept. Keeping it would have put the
install-resolution logic in two places, which is the duplication T-1286 had
just finished collapsing three copies of. domains/blender/service.py owns the
decisions — resolve_blender (native beats flatpak, ordering preserved),
resolve_payload, absolutise — and only run_payload performs. test_blender.py
pins all of them without launching Blender, which matters here more than
usual: the thing being launched is a 200 MB GUI application that writes GLBs.
`reach blender run` takes a registered payload name OR a path to any script,
because the wrapper served both — the spikes and the glb-gen skill hand it
one-off scripts of their own. An unknown name enumerates all 35 and exits 2.
The exclusion now defends itself. check_carve_out_stays_carved fails if
`scripts` is added to PACKAGE_ROOTS, if the payload directory empties (an empty
exclusion proves nothing), or if an __init__.py appears there (which would make
the payloads importable — the coupling the carve-out exists to prevent). All
three arms mutation-proved.

Twelve scripts retired, three domains registered. `reach` now covers nine.
generate: `generate-brands` and `generate-corporations` were the second and
third copies of the same 24-line build-if-missing-then-exec bash `tooling/atlas`
carried, so they collapsed into `core.process.cargo_binary` rather than being
ported. `import_economics` shelled out to the first of those, so it now calls
that helper — `generated_brands.toml` comes back byte-identical, and the stamp
registry swaps the retired wrapper for `core/process.py`.
pr: `watchlist-diff` derives its watched set from `generator_sources.py` instead
of restating it, so it cannot drift from the stamp check.
dev: the environment scripts split decision from performing, per D-263's
guarded-exec rule. `godot_plan()` and `worktree_plan()` decide what would
happen; `install_godot()`, `install_rust()` and `setup_worktree()` do it.
`tooling/test_environment.py` pins the version pin, both override precedences,
the already-current skip, the platform refusal and both worktree refusals —
none of them performed. `make setup` now installs reach first, since the
targets that install rust and godot are reach verbs.
Two live bugs found while porting:
- The clerk read its decision index from `decisions/README.md`, a path that
stopped existing when the DQR tree moved to `governance/`. Every clerk agent
has been grepping blind; its prompt pointed at the same dead directory.
- The conformance exec-check matched any `x.system()` regardless of receiver,
so `platform.system()` read as `os.system()`. Narrowed and re-proved against
a real mutant.
`process.run` gains `input=`, `timeout=` and a `ProcessTimeout` subclass so a
killed run stays distinguishable from a verdict. The pre-push hook no longer
merges the clerk's stderr into its stdout — under streaming the last merged
line is a JSONL event, which would read as an unrecognised verdict and block.

The gate caught its own case. tooling/atlas moved into the reach CLI in
T-1285, and wiki-generator-flow.d2 still named it as the bodies catalog
origin — exactly the silent staleness D-262 exists to prevent, found by the
check rather than by a reader months later.

reach validate content / checklist / ron / name-collisions. The three old
scripts are retired, their make targets with them.
Print statements go through the logging sink rather than a collector. The
validators emit their findings as console events as they run, so a long content
validation streams instead of going quiet and dumping at the end — the message
strings and their order are unchanged, only the destination. That also
satisfies the conformance rule forbidding print() in the package, which is what
forced the question.
validate-ron was three languages deep: bash dispatching on a flag, a Python
heredoc doing collision detection, cargo run for schema validation. Logic
embedded in a shell string cannot be imported, tested, or found by anything
that indexes Python, so it became Python; the cargo call became a guarded exec.
It also split into two verbs, because --check-name-collisions answered a
different question from the default path: whether the SET of cultures is
coherent, versus whether ONE file is well-formed.
The move broke something, quietly, which is the point of doing these one at a
time. validate-checklist computed ROOT as Path(__file__).parent.parent — the
repo root while it lived at tooling/validate-checklist, and tooling/domains
once moved. Both its schema and gauntlet paths silently repointed at nothing,
the gauntlet directory "did not exist", and it reported success having checked
zero files. Caught by running it beside the original: old exit 1, new exit 0.
Now config.repo_root(), and load_schema raises ReachError instead of calling
sys.exit, which a service must not do.
Parity on the live tree: content reproduces the original byte for byte
including its counts, name-collisions likewise. Tests pin what those runs
cannot reach — the detection path, since the repo currently has no collisions,
and the argument errors.
Two things found and left alone: validate-content FAILS on the live tree with
13 missing schemas, pre-existing and unrelated to this port; and the ticket's
claim that validate-content sits in the pre-commit hook is wrong — that hook
runs only check-fact-ids and pql decisions validate, so there was no shared
edit to coordinate.

All five gates are ported, tested against their failure paths, and the
originals are gone. reach check is the only way to run them.
Parity first, then deletion. Every case in test_check.py began as a parity case
running the new implementation beside the script it replaced; that evidence is
in the ticket. With the scripts retired there is nothing left to compare
against, so the assertions become the spec and the file drops its "_parity"
name. A parity test is scaffolding with a defined lifetime — keeping one after
its subject is deleted would mean keeping the subject alive to be compared
with, which is the opposite of a migration.
Two gates could not be parity-tested in a fixture at all, and both reasons are
findings rather than obstacles. canvas-version: canvas_sources globs from a
__file__ root while the service resolves git through config.repo_root(), so a
fixture would diff one tree and glob another — real history is used instead,
including two genuine instances of the regression the gate exists to catch.
systems-db-stamp: generator_sources raises at IMPORT time when the economy-db
tree is absent, so the old script died before reaching any logic in every
fixture. The ported service imports it lazily and after the absent/unstamped
checks, which is exactly why those states are testable now and were not before.
Hooks rewired: pre-commit runs reach check fact-ids, pre-push runs the other
four. Both pass --no-input, because a hook has no TTY and a prompt there does
not wait, it crashes. Both guard on `command -v reach` and skip with a message
rather than blocking every commit on a missing tool.
Make targets are RETIRED, not wrapped, per the D-263 split — with the mapping
left as a comment where they used to be. Wrapping would leave two ways to
invoke each gate, and reach --help would stop being the answer to "what tooling
exists" while the Makefile remained a competing index. pre-pr-validate and
pre-pr-content keep their orchestration role and lose the individual target.
Sprint archives and workshop notes still name the old paths and are left alone:
they record what was true when written.

Bash(reach) and Bash(reach *) join .claude/settings.json beside the pql pair.
Two entries, not the one the ticket asked for: a rule ending in " *" does not
match the bare word, and bare `reach` is a real invocation now that it prints
the domain list. pql, make, cargo test and ruff check each carry a bare-form
entry alongside the wildcard for exactly this reason, and adding only the
wildcard would have left `reach` prompting while `reach check ...` did not.
This is the line Q-124 was actually filed about. Ten hand-written
Bash(tooling/...) entries each cover a single script and every unlisted tool
prompts; one command with subcommands is one rule covering everything. The ten
stay for now — the old scripts are still the working tools until T-1253.
On verification, since the ticket warned specifically against declaring this
done on the wrong evidence: real calls run clean, but that is NOT proof the
rule matched. The same calls succeeded before the rule existed — there was no
Bash(reach ...) entry in either settings file and no blanket grant — so the
session was already permitting them and the observation cannot distinguish "the
rule matched" from "the rule was never consulted". settings.json is read at
session start, so this cannot be self-verified from the session that wrote it.
Proof is a later session, in a prompting mode, where reach runs without asking.
One accepted limitation, documented rather than worked around: rules
prefix-match the whole command string, so an env-prefixed call like
SR_REPO_ROOT=... reach ... will still prompt. An environment override is a real
departure from normal invocation; the ordinary form is what needs to be
frictionless.

`uv tool install --editable` puts the executable in ~/.local/bin rather than
.venv/bin, which is the difference between a command that works everywhere and
one that works only under an activated venv. Agents and git hooks never
activate one.
Verified in the three contexts that matter, with a negative control so the
passes discriminate: a stripped non-interactive shell, a REAL git hook process
(via git -c core.hooksPath ... hook run pre-push, not a simulation), and an
agent Bash call — all with VIRTUAL_ENV unset. With ~/.local/bin removed from
PATH the same check reports NOT-FOUND, so this is not passing because a venv
happens to be active.
Found a silent interpreter fork while doing it, which is this initiative's own
failure mode wearing a different hat. uv tool install without --python picked
CPython 3.11 for the tool environment while .venv and system python are 3.14 —
uv selects the lowest interpreter satisfying requires-python. reach would have
run on one interpreter and the test scripts on another, with different wheels
for numpy/scipy/PIL, and future 3.12+ syntax would break the tool while the
venv stayed green. PYTHON_VERSION now pins both.
make setup-venv is rebuilt on uv, per the T-1258 finding that it called
.venv/bin/pip against a venv that has no pip. The first fix was wrong too:
plain `uv venv` fails on an existing venv, so the target was not idempotent
where the version it replaced had been. Caught by running it twice instead of
dry-running it — which is how the original rotted unnoticed.
make install-reach self-checks that reach is actually on PATH afterwards
rather than assuming it. make reach-repoint gives a name to the situation
where uv keeps resolving a deleted worktree: reach still runs, edits in the
main checkout do nothing, and there is no error message.

The relationship between wiki/, the generators, systems.db and the runtime is
a directed graph with two edges running opposite to the obvious direction and
one running backwards into its own producer. Prose renders that badly: every
document that has described it states a single ownership direction and is
therefore wrong about part of the tree. D-262 makes the diagram the source of
truth and points CLAUDE.md, Skill(wiki), project-structure.md and
wiki/GOVERNANCE.md at it.
The correction that matters most: body pages were described everywhere as
machine-owned and reverted on sync. They are not. scaffold_bodies.py writes
one once and never overwrites it, and import_economics then reads that
frontmatter directly as input — so a hand-edit is not reverted, it is obeyed,
and silently changes world generation. Worse than being overwritten, and the
actual reason GOVERNANCE.md forbids the edit.
New: tooling/check-dataflow-graph.py, wired into the Makefile and the pre-push
hook. It asserts every repo path named in a hand-authored diagram still
resolves — and its docstring states plainly what it cannot do: verify that an
edge still MEANS what it says. If wiki_sync.py stopped writing body pages
tomorrow, every path would still exist and the check would still pass. Edge
semantics stay a human check against the tool's source, so nobody reads a green
gate as a verified map.
Verified by breaking it: pointing one label at a moved path fails with exit 1
naming that path; restoring it passes. Building the checker also caught two
real vaguenesses in the diagram — "GJ-*/index.md" and "bodies/{id}/index.md"
were written without their wiki/star-systems/ prefix, which is precisely the
ambiguity this map exists to remove. Generated star-map .d2 files are excluded
by name; their correctness belongs to their generator under D-223.
Also files Q-124 + T-1246 (tooling): whether the 123 Python files under
tooling/ should become one Rust CLI of pql's calibre. The friction is real and
mostly not about the language — the permission gate prefix-matches whole
command strings and a blanket Bash(python3 *) grant is forbidden, so each tool
prompts near-individually, while a single binary is one allowlist entry. The
record requires pricing the cheap alternative (a Python dispatcher entrypoint)
before recommending Rust, and flags the hard constraint: import_economics is
stamped by source SHA, so any port must keep that contract intact through the
transition rather than disabled during it.

d2 emits SVG natively; its PNG path wants a ~150 MB headless-Chromium
download and prompts interactively, so every PNG here was produced by an
out-of-band magick step. There is no Chromium on this system. Dropping PNG
removes the dependency rather than trading one format for another, and cuts
docs/diagrams/ from 17 MB to 3.3 MB. SVG renders in Gitea and in clide
(`clide draw --file <path>`, which takes .d2 source directly), and diffs as
text.
One PNG is kept on purpose: design/star-map-concentric.png has no .d2 source.
Also renders the 7 star-map .d2 files for the first time. star-map-plan.md
listed their renders as a deliverable in March and the step never ran; the
new `make check-diagrams` is what surfaced it.
New: docs/diagrams/data-flow/wiki-generator-flow.d2 — which way the arrows
point for any file under wiki/. Every edge was read in the tool's own source
rather than inferred. It records the trap that keeps costing us: scaffold_bodies.py
writes a body page once and never overwrites it, and the generator then reads
that frontmatter directly — so a hand-edit there is not reverted, it is obeyed,
and silently changes world generation.
Two rendering traps found the expensive way and now written down:
- A d2 `|md` block becomes an SVG <foreignObject>. ImageMagick and flutter_svg
both silently drop it, so the legend was in the file and invisible in every
viewer except a browser. Plain labels render as real <text> everywhere.
- Container boxes fight the layout engine. Grouping nodes whose flow-depths
differ forces long edge routes; this diagram went from an unreadable 2.4:1
sprawl to a legible 0.75:1 by deleting five containers and changing nothing
else. Colour classes carry the grouping instead.
make diagrams / make check-diagrams render and gate. Repo-specific rules in
.claude/rules/diagrams.md; d2 syntax and the traps live in the user-scope
d2-diagram skill, whose PNG default was flipped to SVG to match.

An experiment, at Jeroen's request: predict how the wiki seed data is structured
WITHOUT reading it, seal the prediction, then score it. The prediction is
a1addf7e2, committed before wiki/ was opened so it could not be retrofitted.
The score, against a rule fixed in advance:
RIGHT — markdown + YAML frontmatter, TOML for economics tables, the body path
shape, more trees than the three I had seen.
WRONG — "a source, never an output". That holds for 253 pages and is backwards
for 3,262: star-systems/ is GENERATED from systems.db by tooling/db/wiki_sync.py,
its <!-- READ-ONLY --> blocks are renders, and body frontmatter IS the body
definition rather than a description of one. Also wrong: "probably no schema
docs" — there are 17 templates, ten authoring guides, economics/schema.md and a
GOVERNANCE.md that states the ownership models plainly.
ABSENT (the expensive bucket) — the two ownership models running in OPPOSITE
directions; the GTTR prose channel; terrain.npz/globe.png; that stations and
districts have NO wiki directories; that `description` frontmatter exists so
agents can filter before loading; and the scale, 11,864 files.
ROOT CAUSE, and it is not missing documentation. The wiki documents itself well.
It was unreachable: wiki/ appears in NEITHER CLAUDE.md's Project Structure block
NOR .claude/rules/project-structure.md, the annotated tree whose entire job is
orienting an agent. The largest tree in the repo — the seed for the whole Reach —
was invisible from both files a session reads first. Every item in the absent
bucket follows from that one omission. The proof is this session: it spent three
days fixing Ferrath's terrain rendering and never once saw
wiki/star-systems/GJ-820B/bodies/GJ820Bc/index.md, the file that defines Ferrath.
Fixed here: wiki/ enters both structure documents with the ownership split stated
where it will be read, and Skill(wiki) carries the traps — never hand-edit a
READ-ONLY block or body frontmatter, stations have no directories, the id is
spelled two ways, editing corp PROSE stales systems.db, and absent variance is
often deliberate rather than a gap.
That last point cost two false findings in one measurement and is worth the
warning: chemosynthetic:false on every body is a namespace reservation for
dextro-DNA-style biochemistry once geology and nature spawn to the 1x1m pixel,
and enabled:false on ~65% is staged rollout — clean planet types first, generator
scripts for the rest after. Both read as defects without the roadmap.
Also measured, since the seed's job is to supply variance: continuous axes are
rich (unique seed per body, 460-716 distinct values across orbit/tilt/ice/land)
while the categoricals that gate morphology are concentrated (68% tectonics low,
51% planet_class frozen). Filed as T-1244 with the design question stated first —
whether the distribution is intended — rather than as a defect.
Method caveat recorded in the findings: the aggregator reads scalar frontmatter
only, and atmosphere_color's "100% null" was a parser artefact, not a finding.

Written before opening wiki/, committed first so the prediction is timestamped and cannot be retrofitted once the answer is known. Contamination declared inline: paths already seen this session via generator_sources.py and visual_scenarios.gd are marked [SEEN] and discounted. Scoring rule fixed in advance, with 'load-bearing thing I did not know existed' as the bucket that decides what gets documented.

project.yaml's version is the Atlas disk cache's only invalidation signal, and
nothing enforced that changing canvas GENERATION also moved it. It broke five
times -- 0.4.2 lake_margin_q, 0.4.3 coast_warp_px, 0.4.4 the extent inversion,
0.4.5 the Global sentinel, 0.4.6 one-course-per-river -- each bumped only after
someone noticed a wrong map. The failure is invisible to its author: it needs a
warm cache to reproduce, so a cold checkout looks fine. T-1239 is the last one,
and it took eight days.
tooling/canvas_sources.py is the path registry; tooling/check-canvas-version
rejects a push that touches those paths without moving project.yaml's version
line. Wired into the pre-push hook, `make check-canvas-version`, and, for the
parsing units, `make test-tooling`.
Verified against real history rather than a synthetic branch: run over
4e503c356 -- the commit that actually caused T-1239 -- the gate rejects and names
the three files. Run over the commits that DID bump (bdea71953, 39f0fd8c5, and
T-1239's own fix), it passes.
The registry is globbed, not hand-listed. step_canvas.rs imports ten sibling
modules and those import more, so a traced closure would be stale within a month,
and stale here is silent. It over-includes on purpose: a false positive costs one
bump and one round of cache misses, a false negative costs another week of a
wrong map -- the ticket's own ruling.
Two deliberate calls worth naming. The registry includes ITSELF, which closes the
narrowing hole: remove a path and change that same path in one push, and the gate
still fires because the registry file is in the set. And there is no override
flag -- it would be reached for exactly when someone is certain their change is
harmless, which is the reasoning behind all five regressions.
Version bumped 0.4.6 -> 0.4.7 with NO canvas-generation change: self-inclusion
means adding the registry trips its own rule. Spent rather than special-cased,
because the first exception is how a rule like this dies.
The units cover the property no branch run can show -- that editing project.yaml's
comment block, which quotes old version NUMBERS directly above the field, is not
a bump -- plus a registry-coverage test naming the files each of the five known
regressions touched, so a future narrowing past them fails loudly.

current_schema_version() line-scanned res://../project.yaml at runtime. That
resolves to the repo root in a dev run and to nothing in an exported build, so a
shipped game got the "?.?.?" fallback every time. Since that tag is the Atlas
disk cache's ONLY invalidation signal, every exported build stamped and compared
the same sentinel: a canvas cached by one build would be served by every later
build, forever. T-1239 is what that failure looks like once it happens.
loading_screen.gd carried a byte-for-byte copy of the same function, so the
version shown to the player was "?.?.?" in exactly the builds where a version
string is worth showing. Both call sites now share client/scripts/build_version.gd,
which reads application/config/version out of ProjectSettings — a value Godot
bakes into the PCK, identical in the editor and in an export by construction
rather than by luck. No file IO, no fallback branch.
project.yaml stays the source of truth (CLAUDE.md); client/project.godot mirrors
it. A mirror nobody checks would be worse than the bug it replaces -- the old
code failed loudly everywhere, a stale mirror fails silently -- so
tooling/check-client-version compares the two and the pre-push hook runs it
unconditionally. Not gated on "were those files in this push": drift persists on
main once introduced, and gating would let an existing drift ride along.
The test this replaces asserted that current_schema_version() did not return its
fallback, and passed -- in the one environment where the code under test worked.
Three tests now pin the property that actually matters: a real version, sourced
from the baked setting, matching project.yaml.

Finding 2 became a real code fix: interstitial_fill_into now enforces
the footprint-wins conflict rule (column_has_voxel range probe) — the
FilledChunk absence contract was previously a documented promise the
code didn't keep against conflicting inputs; pinned by a fully-
overlapping-leaf test asserting per-tile resolution. The tautological
overlap test replaced with a real rects_overlap() geometric helper
(itself sanity-tested) applied pairwise. The degenerate-setback fix is
now a standalone pure fn shrink_lot_or_interstitial with four boundary
tests — honestly documented as unreachable from live traffic today
(every min_lot exceeds every setback), a robustness guard for future
recalibration. Both sub-chunk clip tests now reconstruct the full
32-tile union across the seam (disjoint + complete), including the
pre-existing footprint clip test (leave-cleaner). Brief's ChunkLayout
claim tightened to the verified no-production-consumer statement.

The BSP leaves that lose the D-233 coverage roll in
subdivide_block_footprints were computed and discarded; they are now
surfaced as the interstitial rect set (BlockSubdivision), making the
ground-plane classification exhaustive by construction: footprint /
interstitial / street-margin-or-reserved. FillChunk carries the leaves
plus a minimal BlockFillContext (interstitial_character + setback_tier,
re-derived at block level via the existing pure fn); FilledChunk gains
a sparse interstitial map whose absence contract is stated on the
struct (missing key = footprint/street/reserved, never unknown). The
pure resolution maps OperationsSurface (D-233) first, else setback_tier
onto five of D-235's seven interstitial values — dock_slip/market_pad
have no specified trigger in the record and point at T-1209 rather
than an invented mapping. Design brief with the geometry model at
docs/architecture/interstitial-fill-t1098.md (lead-approved
checkpoint). Bonus fix: a degenerate setback shrink previously vanished
from BOTH lists silently; it now falls through to interstitial. 14 new
tests; full cargo test green incl. all golden harnesses; purity per
T-987 (plan-time compute, pre-resolved work items, no cache reads).

D-130->D-131 (broad life-verb vocabulary, x3) and D-118->D-133 (skills

spot-check. The T-1205 audit body-matched all 66 unique decision ids
across the remaining 11 briefings — the other 10 are citation-clean.
Final f4c72e148 tally: 16 mis-citations across 6 of 18 briefings, all

footprint_tiles is an authored value, never derived from normalized
mesh geometry — [1,1] defaults only for plausibly-single-tile classes;
ordinarily-multi-tile classes require an explicitly stated footprint at
promotion. Her exact wording in furniture-props.md §3; conventions.md
§4 gains the authored-not-derived sentence pointing at the full rule
(and a pre-existing 'Single Sunday-tile' typo fixed in passing). The
[1,1] values shipped for the four promoted items stand as ruled.

table_baroque, chair_modernist, desk_scifi (furniture, with mask
sidecars) and lion_statue (props, non-tintable) enter
client/assets/models/ under the category-first convention, byte-
identical to the spike sources (MD5-verified; spikes/ untouched,
vw_beetle excluded per the Q-067 deferral). Postprocess verified
already-applied by Blender node-graph inspection (mat_primary,
roughness=1.0/specular=0.0 shader inputs — the convenience properties
read stale defaults, the graph is authoritative), so not re-run. All
four registered in manifest.json at 'planned' with footprint_tiles
[1,1] (a flagged judgment call — normalized spike geometry erases
real-world scale; the brief ruling goes to araminta in review).
In-engine proof: clean headless import + ResourceLoader load +
instantiate for all four. Discovery documented in conventions.md §2 +
glb-gen SKILL.md: Godot externalizes the GLB's embedded texture as a
<model>_Image_0.png sidecar referenced by binary UID — it must be
committed or loading breaks with an undiscoverable dependency error.

The 2026-03-13 'update all 18 briefings' commit transcribed a family of
adjacent-id slips while summarizing the Where's the Fun? workshop batch,
copied forward by every later maintenance pass: D-126<->D-134 swapped,
D-136 written as D-131, D-137 as D-136, D-130 as D-131, D-120 as D-137.
Fixed in gore/mellanie/ozzie/stig/nigel briefings; every correction
verified against the record's actual body (D-130's emergent-moral-arc
and D-120's no-skill-ceiling were resolved beyond the clerk's audit by
body-matching — the nigel D-137 fix would otherwise have created
contradictory citations in one file). Governance records untouched
(they were always correct); sprint archives verified already-correct.
Remaining 13 briefings from the same commit: T-1205.

doors.md now presents D-231's actual struct shape (initial_state
Open/Closed/Locked/Sealed; TemporalWindow lives in the independent
credential field) and attaches the Phase-5 runtime bridge to
initial_state only. furniture-props.md inventories all five spike GLBs
— acceptance is 4 promotable (3 furniture + lion_statue), vw_beetle
explicitly excluded to the Q-067 deferral. deferred.md + station-walls
gain the axis-completeness note: roof/facade/street textures ride the
wall-brief convention as a same-family follow-on, so the register
accounts for all four D-235 axes. The briefing's D-257 pointer
corrected to palette.md §2.1–2.2, and both the briefing and palette.md
(leave-cleaner, gap inherited from PR #211) now carry D-154's amendment
to D-033 — relationship colors display only in the insert/perception
overlay; normal gameplay is a uniform #1a1a1a outline (D-150).

conventions.md as the live authorities the briefing points at rather
than restates, her standing rulings (category-first naming, D-257
toon/glazing) marked as hers to extend, D-235 co-maintenance with Miri,
the wardrobe pipeline as reference model, D-255 stepped Atlas as active
co-designed work, and her real open items (T-1049, D-257 shader,
Q-119, T-1198). Every v0.2-era decision citation verified before
dropping: D-114/D-117 superseded; D-119/D-122/D-128/D-135 live but not
hers; D-033/D-045 kept. D-126/D-131 found REPURPOSED to unrelated
content since the era docs cited them — the ID-drift sweep is T-1199.
Lead added the briefs/ + deferred.md pointers (araminta's cross-agent
note; her SendMessage to the author couldn't be delivered).

The asset-brief template (scope/visual-reference/naming/gen-path/
acceptance, one page) and five real briefs — station walls, rural walls,
doors, floors, furniture/props — each citing its D-235 axis tokens and
palette.md register rows (or the D-257 toon default), conventions.md
naming/mask/footprint rules, and the image-gen -> glb-gen -> promotion
path with concrete acceptance counts. Doors carry the negative
no-state-frame-files constraint (runtime mechanism stays Phase 5);
furniture/props' first acceptance is promoting the three unpromoted
spike GLBs. deferred.md is the formal register for the T-1051 four
(lamp posts, barns, TVs, billboards) + cars/Q-067, with rationale and
revisit triggers — satisfying T-1051's own 'or record formal deferral'
deliverable. Child stories under T-961 are created lead-side at merge.

_setup_atlas_golden_shot and _run_atlas_matrix rebuilt on the real D-255
surface: nav.push('regional') through AtlasApp's own body-selection tail,
then StepCanvasViewer.jump_to at a fixed center (inventory item 5) — no
shim over the retired continuous-zoom API. is_pending()-aware bounded
settle (mirroring atlas_agent_driver.gd) and view-transform logging
(inventory item 3) wired into both capture paths. The 12 z2_0/z4_0/zfit
goldens are replaced by 12 (body, rung) goldens captured live against
fresh --test-mode servers; atlas_shots.json/visual.json re-keyed;
atlas_gen_open's stale gen_l1_* overlay ids fixed to gen_dw_temp.
Verification: two consecutive District runs byte-identical, and a
cold-vs-warm disk-cache invariance proof on both terrain draw branches
(Global/NEAREST, District/LINEAR) — byte-identical either way, so
capture output does not depend on the shared user://atlas_cache state.
DEVOPS.md's real-rendering exception note now records the fold-target
mapping for the smoke file T-1182 already deleted (Global + District
goldens exercise its two real-pixel draw branches). Old legacy-tracked
.import sidecars go with their PNGs; new goldens ship bare per
.gitignore's client/**/*.import rule.

Authors the full style bible: camera table separating D-148 gameplay from
D-019 offline-renderer use; the delegated toon-vs-PBR ruling (environment
props share the character toon treatment, with a minimal-PBR carve-out for
glass/polished metal so sightlines read truthfully under occlusion-based
perception); a color/material register for every D-235 ObjectTag (hue,
grain, D-217-keyed weathering); and explicit supersession notes both ways
with visual-grammar-v01.md and the mood-board workshop transcript.
Includes branch-side pql changelog rows (T-1050/T-1052 -> review); the
worktree pre-commit export step failed benignly (write-through had
already refreshed the files) so they are staged explicitly here.

Instantiates the five D-244 catalog files (models/textures/artwork/icons/
effects — icons carries the 13 as-built SVGs, stance icons traced to their
consumer and marked final), creates client/assets/models/{furniture,props}
with a schema-documented manifest.json mirroring the character manifest,
fixes glb-gen SKILL.md's stale 'path does not exist' paragraph, and authors
docs/assets/visual/conventions.md: category-first model naming (araminta
ruling), mask sidecars per the character convention, D-235-token-keyed
texture naming, footprint_tiles as manifest metadata. Door-state and
TileSet conventions are recorded as explicit deferrals (Phase-5 owned).
visual/README.md carries both this ticket's count/link updates and
T-1052's palette-section rewrite (shared file, committed here).

The complete workshop record: four round-1 positions, five round-2 syntheses
(incl. Troblum's adversarial pass with addendum + final scorecard — all seven
findings resolved), both lead interviews, Qatux's round notes and the 8-section
workshop-outcomes.md (the lakes message-crossing documented as process
history), measurement ⑥ (set_pixel/c1) + the population-survey and chunk/S2
addenda in the measurement docs, the brief's appendix updated through ⑥, and
architecture-briefing-final.md — Jeroen's outline written back as-built
(six-level ladder, lakes, ~9MB resident global tier). README row: Complete.

Tyre C2: DownstreamTarget::OpenSpillway added — success (open low ground,
complete carved path) split from EdgeUnreachable (strict search exhaustion);
both doc comments exact; test updated. Tyre C3: determinism docstring
corrected (no BTreeMap; the endorheic f64 gate stated as deterministic-by-
derivation). Hoshe H1: vacuous cliff_edge test replaced by
single_basin_bowl_never_carves_a_gorge asserting the known-empty outcome.
Hoshe H2/H3: courses-force-empty disclosure at rect_window_replica and in
the results doc; courses.len() print added to the square production-fn
bench — measured 3/6/10 courses in window (NOT courses-empty, verified
twice); 'faithful stand-in' claim retracted for a precise scope statement;
GJ1c 18-course run identified as the sole production-density rate. Tyre C1:
appendix (4) headline rephrased — the tagged-envelope migration cannot be
dodged by payload optimization (byte math), field-count-rule trigger is a
workshop synthesis call; appendix (2) scope split per-shape.
Hydrology unit suite 15/15; atlas lib suite 679 green; benches compile.

Four results docs under docs/workshops/body-map-viewer/measurements/ and the
brief's measurement appendix rewritten from owners/effort to MEASURED
headlines: settled hydrology viable (~24 ms/body, 273 bodies ~0.8 s);
parallel derive throughput holds 330K-8.3M cells (~64 ms / ~1.8 s); block+tile
cost-cleared (deepest step 83K cells ~17 ms); PNG-per-field smallest and
fastest with the tagged-envelope migration foreclosed by byte math (21x the
ceiling at the smallest size); texture upload a non-issue (8.3M px ~3.2 ms,
L8 4-9x cheaper). All numbers post-date the background-load closure with
stability re-runs. The workshop round-1 gate is satisfied.

Three-way prep session (Jeroen + lead + Tyre) for the map-handler revision:
Jeroen's design outline captured verbatim, two clarification rounds, Tyre's
governance-delta/implications pass, brief co-written and ratified (zero
misrepresentations, zero blocking gaps), signed off by Jeroen with three edit
rounds (vocabulary repair tile->gridunit, client cache-store question with
SQLite fact base, explicit DQR/ticket deprecation sweep as gated deliverable).
Workshop: 5 seats (Dudley/Araminta/Stig/Tyre + Troblum r2), 2 rounds + lead
interview extendable at Jeroen's call, round 1 gated on measurements
T-1177/T-1178/T-1154/T-1179 (T-1180 non-gating). T-1176 in_progress with gate
blocker edges; T-1154 repurposed as measurement (3) and set ready.

Jeroen's benchmark capture for the Atlas polish pass, saved in-repo
with the technique extraction (rivers-as-networks/taper, road-vs-river
color+straightness disambiguation, coast gradient, data-driven stipple,
labels) so the future Araminta-led pass has the source material.

A2 (river_course.rs): Stage A rung-independent valley-seeking control
path (chord/8 stations, k=5 bilinear-scored candidates + continuity
penalty); Stage B rung-indexed perpendicular warp on GLOBAL arc-length
(window-independence, Ruling 1e), band chord/2 down to min_wavelength_m
hard-truncate, sine taper to zero at anchors, amplitude min(8% chord,
half-cell) slope/class-scaled. SeedDomain::RiverCourse=17, distinct
salt. Wire: RiverCourse{edge_id,class,points,terminus} on
DistrictWindowLayer.courses (serde-default); bbox-culled, window-
cropped +1 station. TerrainAnalysisCache retains Layer1Output (the
gen_queue:626 discard, Ruling 4b). A3: mouth termination walks
stations sampling the window's OWN rung-consistent morphology verdict,
6-iteration bisect; land-at-anchor probes one segment then None;
EdgeDrain never probes. A5: near_perennial_water point-to-segment
predicate (D-239 §8 governed bands 1-3m class-scaled) threaded through
both batch and window paths; Region always false; never touches
moisture_q. Discipline closed: dormant zoom-ladder bench run + numbers
recorded in the design doc (District 3.009/1.785, Quarter 1.823
us/cell, Region window 0.617ms); course-cost bench CAUGHT a real
+12-36% per-cell riparian scan regression -> precomputed bbox O(1)
reject (60ns->2.2ns/call), final delta +3.4-6.9% at budget; three
determinism tests (overlapping-window byte-identity, cross-rung
amplitude bound, warp-stream cross-correlation r<0.3); goldens: window
sweep gained a verified course-bearing position (pure append), new
river_course golden at both rungs, believability verified unchanged.
Revert-verification discovered the pole-row branch is structurally
unreachable (flow_direction bounds-check) — the real edge-drain path
is k<0 flat-plateau; test fixture rewritten to exercise reality.
scale.rs stale comment fixed. Full cargo test green.

Tyre's binding ruling from the three-audit design pass (full text:
docs/architecture/river-courses-t1170.md). Keystone: the wave-1
carrier rule refines three-way — rung-independent discrete features
ride whole-body; continuous fields ride windowed per-cell arrays;
RUNG-INDEXED INVENTED DETAIL rides the windowed payload regardless of
geometric kind (courses = the coast crinkle's vector sibling; no
ceiling impact — content of the one windowed payload, not a second
query). Courses invented server-side per window on the T-1137 queue,
terminated against the window's own rung-consistent water verdict
(the two-waterline terminus fork dissolves); Region's skeleton chords
ARE the rung-truncated course. river_downstream sentinels reserve
TERMINAL for future endorheic basins. D-226 + D-227 captures added.

Tyre's exact capture: the design pass's 'retire COMPOSITE_SMOOTH /
crisp draw_rect as the only path' is superseded — the const survives
as the compile-time pipeline axis, the crisp path stays as debug/
compare, and crispness-at-sparse-rungs is delivered by the per-rung
sampling-filter policy instead. T-1155's retirement framing is
cancelled (ticket closes on merge). Also records the R2 softening:
the T-1162 relief band adds sub-district elevation variance at
Quarter cutoff, so temperature no longer steps strictly at the
district there — intended, noted so nobody is surprised later.

Three live-found rendering bugs, all invisible to green unit suites:
- _draw_tile_mosaic placed tiles from absolute district (0,0); canvas-
local (0,0) is held_center - held_n/2 everywhere else, and tile-mode
held_n is the whole-body extent — the entire mosaic drew tens of
thousands of px off-canvas. New pure district_to_canvas_local() +
viewer accessors route every tile through the shared frame.
- _maybe_reselect_rung updated held_n across crossings without
recomputing _view_offset — the single-window composite landed off-
canvas the moment any crossing happened (why District/Quarter were
black too). New pure recompute_offset_for_held_n_change().
- _build_tile_texture created an unstored ImageTexture per _draw,
racing the RenderingServer's deferred upload — CPU pixels correct,
screen white. Per-tile-index texture cache, same reference-identity
discipline as the single-window _cached_texture.
Structural close of the twice-bitten 'nothing asserts pixels' gap:
test_atlas_window_overlay_draw_smoke.gd renders overlay output into a
SubViewport and asserts visible pixels for both modes — runs under a
real driver (invocation documented in DEVOPS.md, visual_capture
precedent; migration to the T-1157 harness noted on that ticket), skips
loud-but-green under the gate's headless run (verified green-with-skips
AND genuinely red with detection forced off). +7 geometry/crossing
tests, all revert-verified. Targeted suites 270 green; gdlint clean.
Jeroen's three rulings on the zoom-ladder design pass, recorded as a
D-226 amendment: (1) 'we set a new BHAG so old restrictions are up for
debate' — the item-(d) ceiling opens for the Atlas windowed viewport
(below-quarter rungs gated on the T-1154 measurement pass; chunk/tile
still never a whole-body planetary layer); (2) planetary rung ships as
progressive capped-density tiling on the generalized district_window
carrier; (3) planetary->regional entry becomes continuous cursor-anchored
zoom with full-zoom-out resetting to the canonical orbital frame (D-013
zoom-owns-descent restored; click-through cut superseded).
Design doc stamped with the resolved rulings. T-1143 closed. Implementation
chain: T-1149 (derive_at_metres + octave cutoff) -> T-1150 (granularity
carrier + aliasing test) / T-1151 (window par_iter) -> T-1152 (derived
planetary rung) / T-1153 (client continuous ladder) -> T-1155 (smoothing
retirement); T-1154 below-quarter measurement gate.
Tyre/Dudley/Araminta design round with Troblum adversarial critique and
completeness audit folded in (9-agent pass). Recommends: generalize the
district_window carrier with serde-default granularity + min-wavelength
params (no sixth demux shape); quarter rung as full reclassification at
512m; derive_at_metres extraction from derive_district's interior as the
keystone step; planetary rung as progressive capped-density tiling.
Carries measured-vs-estimated cost discipline and six explicit risks.
Decisions reserved for Jeroen: the D-226(d) floor question (stop at
quarter recommended), the planetary wire carrier, and the planetary-seam
interaction ruling.
Cleared stale STANDBY markers, swept dead DISCUSSION.md pointers, disambiguated overlapping personas, corrected asset-gen paths. Armed 7 discussion agents (gestalt/gore/mellanie/miri/nigel/ozzie/paula) with Bash so they can run the pql preamble. Integrated inigo into the roster + briefing (audio, standby). Removed tiger — localization dropped from scope (R-013). Part of T-1099.

clide SKILL.md re-synced to the clide repo's canonical copy (picks up the dock/D-87 slot; de-forks). d2-diagram/frame0-wireframe/skill-create deletions landed in the prior commit; their repo-specific tailoring is preserved in docs/design/diagram-wireframe-conventions.md. Part of T-1099.

Stage-1 register selection over the current wiki tree (Q-107 assumption
stated), stage-2 TEXT-FIELDS-ONLY structured proposals (tag, label,
cultural_description, candidate allow/block tags) — humans own all numeric
eligibility/weights (catalog-wide CI guardrails can't be satisfied
per-template); Araminta owns visual_bundle. No era-bands (Q-106 dissolved);
trauma_decay_rate stale-schema note. Mirrors docs/gemma-naming-methodology.md
incl. the sr-voice-tooling serving pattern. Worked example: GJ-4053 granite
dry-stack accept; GJ-1248/GJ-285/GJ-588 as correct stage-1 rejections.

T-1095 fixed: template heads now receive the body's skin tone (same
treatment as seg_head) — _load_head passes tone.lit with a full-white
fallback mask through _attach_to_bone; without a mask sidecar the tint was
silently ignored, so untinted templates read grey against mid/dark tones.
Verified by lookbook render (head_001 on child, tone 6 — face matches arms).
Docs: the T-1088 locomotion design document committed to docs/design/ (the
sandbox code's 'design §' references now resolve in-repo); character-asset-
organization gains §11 Wardrobe Pipeline and sheds three stale claims (the
never-built indexed-greyscale mask plan, single-mask-per-asset for clothing,
the resolved multi-region open question); CHANGELOG carries the sidequest
entry; D-250 amended with the shipped cutaway-modes verdict (mode 2 default,
user-decided live).
Tickets: T-1088, T-1089, T-1095 closed; T-1096 filed (S9 live feel-tuning,
needs the user). The Fable-5 cascade exception is closed — the cascade
resumes at Phase 4 (T-750).
