Chirality continuity — additive clauses making each world's biosphere_class legible without contradicting existing prose: - GJ-524 (Mirror): the "no indigenous hazard" world has no indigenous *nutrition* either — mirror-handed, inedible/inert; its promise is Earth-crop suitability. - GJ-166A / Keid (Compatible): names the stakes the charter defends — Linnaeus's biology is edible/cultivable/exploitable, which is *why* it is preserved. - GJ-684A / Freyburg (Compatible): "robust but non-competitive" = compatible chemistry, outcompeted by bred cultivars — not inert. - GJ-124 / Hạ Long (Compatible): the two-generation "learn to farm" was learning which native (chirality-compatible) organisms to harvest — a genuine alien crop. - GJ-197 / Puerto Último (Compatible): native life is edible in its own right; farming leaned on trusted introduced cultivars. IP fix — the Keid conservancy world was named "Cadwal", Jack Vance's exact book title (same narrative role). Renamed **Linnaeus** (the great classifier; pairs with its neighbour Solander/Solandar). Capital stays "Vance" (the author tribute). Renamed in the body frontmatter (+ biosphere_class: NativeCompatible), the GJ-166A infobox, and the atlas proposal; D-247 clarified. The systems.db bake (workstream 3) will propagate the DB + regenerate the infobox authoritatively. Solandar and Oshima need no continuity edit (already canon-consistent). GJ 524 is the best unclaimed real estate in the deep frontier, and it has been that for two centuries.
The primary world sits inside the habitable zone of a G-type star — warm, stable, well-lit by deep-frontier standards. Survey teams have visited it five times in two hundred years and produced reports that read, across all five visits, with the same careful and growing frustration: temperate climate, rich soil, diverse native biosphere, no significant atmospheric processing requirements, no geological instability, no meaningful indigenous hazard. What the survey teams' chirality assays quietly added — and what never reached the executive summaries — is that there is no meaningful indigenous nutrition either: the native biosphere is mirror-handed, inedible and biochemically inert, so the world's real promise is how readily Earth crops would take to its soil and light, not the native life being a larder. The kind of world that survey teams are trained to describe professionally and that they describe professionally while clearly wanting to use different words. One survey report, preserved in the relevant feasibility study archives, notes in its conclusion: "Settlement candidates of this quality are uncommon in any sector. At hop eleven in the deep frontier, this world is exceptional."
Three separate feasibility studies have been conducted. The first, approximately two hundred years ago, concluded that the world was excellent and recommended a settlement expedition. No expedition was funded. The second, approximately one hundred and thirty years ago, concluded that the world remained excellent and the earlier recommendation stood. No expedition was funded. The third, approximately sixty years ago, concluded that the world was excellent, that two previous feasibility studies had already established this, and that the primary obstacle to settlement was not the world but the logistics of organizing and funding a founding cohort at hop eleven depth. No expedition was funded.
The system sits on the corridor between Saudade at GJ 1267 and the unsettled GJ 5, carrying transit traffic past a world that every vessel passing through can see in the navigational data. The survey reports are publicly accessible — registered with the Assembly's territorial survey archive, periodically rediscovered by settlement advocates who write enthusiastic proposals, circulate them in inner-corridor political networks, and find that the logistics of actually doing it defeat everyone who tries to organize around the idea.
The problem is not the world. The problem is that at hop eleven, the cost of founding a settlement is borne almost entirely by the founders, with no guarantee of near-term institutional support or commercial viability, in a system that is excellent for farming and habitation but is not exceptional for anything that attracts early investment. GJ 524 offers exactly what humans actually need — food security, comfortable conditions, biological richness — and nothing that the economic frameworks driving settlement decisions have historically valued above logistics cost. It has been waiting for someone to want what it actually offers more than they want what it cannot offer.
