Supply Dependency

Wolf 359 does not produce — it processes and redistributes. Five gate connections make it the north_reach's primary logistics hub: freight from GJ 845 (core manufacturing) and GJ 3618 (outer extraction) is sorted, bonded, and forwarded through the remaining connections to GJ 65A, GJ 673, and Fremantle (GJ 273). Fremantle ships trained Gate Corporation technicians here for assignment rotation. The system imports virtually all consumables and exports administrative services, transit processing fees, and Concord Assembly compliance documentation. Its economic mass comes entirely from the volume of cargo and people that pass through.

Faction Notes

The Concord Assembly maintains a full regional office here — not a delegate relay but a staffed administrative node with authority to issue transit endorsements, adjudicate inter-system commercial disputes, and coordinate fleet patrol scheduling across the north_reach inner band. This is the Assembly's institutional face for the entire corridor at this distance.

The Gate Corporation has a Class-2 operational base, larger than most inner-reach systems warrant, reflecting the maintenance demands of a five-aperture facility. Gate Corp staff here are a cosmopolitan mix drawn from across the Reach, which gives Wolf 359 an unusually diverse resident population for a Commonwealth-corridor system.

Local governance is parliamentary in structure — an elected Chamber of Delegates with proportional representation across the system's twelve residential platforms. In practice the Chamber defers heavily to the Assembly regional office on matters touching transit and commerce, which is most matters. The procedural culture is Assembly-institutional rather than organic — imported wholesale when the regional office was established and adopted by a platform-born population that had no older tradition to resist it. Every decision gets a record, every record gets archived, every archive gets indexed.

Silence Topic

The Assembly regional office has been quietly reclassifying certain freight categories to bring them under "security inspection" protocols that effectively add three to five days of processing delay. The official rationale is standardisation. The actual effect is that Assembly-aligned freight brokers — who have advance knowledge of the new schedules — can offer guaranteed delivery windows that independent operators cannot match. No one inside the Chamber has formally objected. Several have been asked not to.

Narrative Hook

Wolf 359 is the node where every north_reach transit complaint eventually arrives — and where those complaints are politely processed, stamped, and filed in sequence until they become someone else's problem.

Calibration Note

Wave_5 settlement despite hop-3 position reflects the system being activated late as a dedicated transit hub rather than a settlement world — the star is an M6 dwarf with no hospitable bodies, so early waves passed through but did not stay. All residential population lives on platforms purpose-built for transit service. This also explains the Assembly's comfort with strong institutional presence: Wolf 359 has no agricultural or extractive economic base to compete with its administrative function, which makes it tractable in ways that systems with genuine local economies are not.
