Today there is a station, a crew of several hundred, one disputed resource claim, and the beginning of something that has not yet decided what it will become. Okoro's Claim is Wave 5 settlement at its rawest — not a community so much as a population in the process of becoming one.

Adaeze Okoro followed Okafor Station's commercial network outward. That is the clean version of the story, and it is accurate as far as it goes. The longer version involves a resource survey she funded personally, several years of lobbying Okafor Station's trading house for transit access and supply chain commitment, and a Wave 5 founding charter that names her as principal claimant on the system's geological survey rights. She is in her late fifties now, still present on the station, and still functionally in charge of everything that matters, though she holds no formal title beyond "founding surveyor."

The star is an M5.5 V e — another dim red dwarf with flare activity, the 'e' suffix indicating emission lines. The system's inhabited body is not a planet but a large moon orbiting a gas giant in the outer zone, where the geometry of the giant's magnetic field provides partial radiation shielding. It is cold, and it is dark, and the survey readings that Okoro staked her claim on show subsurface mineral deposits that, if the deeper readings hold, would constitute one of the richer untapped resource sites in the north reach.

The Igbo cultural heritage is explicit in the system's naming: Okoro is a common Igbo surname; Ugwu means 'hill' in Igbo (the inhabited moon's name, applied to the rocky prominence where the domed extraction settlement is located); Udi names a highland district of Enugu State, Nigeria (the transit station designation). These are deliberate choices from the Okafor Station diaspora network's Igbo-heritage founding majority, not incidental English transliterations.
