The evidence requires two pieces: the definition Kalahari filed (in Commission product registration records) and the procurement records showing the imported breeding-stock animals (in the Leatherworks' own supply ledgers). The gap between what buyers understand "Karoo-bred" to mean and what the filed definition actually says is the story. A player who connects those two documents has found a provenance fraud that is technically defensible under the letter of a definition the company wrote for itself.
The pastoral families who supply the genuine Karoo herd animals are secondary characters with direct knowledge of the sourcing split — they know the workshop buys outside animals and know it began after the incorporation. What they know about the certification framing is a separate question.
