GJ 726 is unremarkable in the way that deep frontier systems are unremarkable when they have nothing to offer and nothing to prevent.

A K5 primary, amber and stable. A single rocky world in the habitable zone that survey data describes with the particular economy of language reserved for worlds that meet minimum atmospheric and gravitational parameters without exceeding them in any dimension. The atmosphere is thin but breathable. The gravity is low but manageable. The surface is dry, geologically quiet, and covered in a native lichen-analogue that the wave_3 survey team cataloged and the wave_4 survey team confirmed had not changed in the intervening century. The lichen does not compete with introduced organisms because there is nothing about the world's energy budget that would support organisms vigorous enough to compete with anything.

The through-route connects Claraboia at GJ 904 to GJ 672. This is the second branch of the deep corridor — parallel to the Pedra Seca branch, running through different systems toward the same deep frontier. Where the Pedra Seca branch passes through GJ 3943's unsettled binary gap, the GJ 726 branch passes through this: an equally unsettled, equally dim, equally marginal system that serves the same function of connecting settled systems across a stretch of nothing.

Transit logs show a pattern. Traffic through GJ 726 has increased slowly but measurably over the past fifty years. The increase does not correlate with new settlement in either direction — Claraboia's population has been stable, and GJ 672 beyond is a recent wave_5 arrival. The increase correlates with the deepening of the corridor: as the chain of settlements extends further toward Abzu, more traffic passes through GJ 726 on the way to somewhere else. The somewhere else is always deeper. The system is a corridor, and the corridor is being used.

Nobody has proposed settlement. The conditions do not recommend it and the traffic does not require it. What GJ 726 provides is passage — clean transit between two gates, reliable horizon station maintenance, and a K5 star that marks the midpoint of a journey that is getting longer as the deep frontier's furthest systems draw the occasional traveler who has a reason to go that far and does not share the reason with the transit logs.
