jpmschweitzerandClaude Fable 5 b4919c659b chore(meta): wiki sweep — 2,131 dead heightmap links, nav refresh, GOVERNANCE reality (T-1070, T-1071)
- T-1070: scaffold_bodies.py heightmap link now conditional (bake criteria
per import_heightmaps.py); surgical removal of the dead image line from
all 2,131 body pages lacking the file (267 with the file keep theirs)
- T-1071: 26 real link breaks fixed (knowledge/→concepts/, pre-governance
decision anchors, 9 phantom catalog companions unlinked, cygni relink to
the corporation page, wrong design-doc path); wiki/index.md counts fixed
(301 systems) + Economics nav section; corporations/index.md regenerated
from frontmatter (all 155, tier1.toml grouping — corrects 4 misfiled
tier-1 corps); 25 orphaned station GTTRs linked from 11 system pages
(own ##-heading so atlas sync cannot absorb it); GOVERNANCE.md +
star-system template rewritten to the generated model (DB owns
structured fields, wiki owns prose); triangles/index.md added
- Sol markers conversion REVERTED before commit: atlas_viewer.gd:433 still
renders the legacy geometry schema, so conversion would drop Sol's Atlas
overlays — split to T-1073 (convert together with the client read path)

Broken relative links: 2,180 → 25 (all remaining are intentional
_templates/ placeholders).

Supply Dependency

Four gates make Kampala Gate a distribution crossroads for the outer north_reach. It receives inbound freight from GJ 473B and GJ 3618 (outer extraction and manufacturing), redistributes it toward GJ 661A and GJ 1116A (deeper north), and manages the reverse flow of consumer goods and equipment outward. The system cannot feed itself and is entirely dependent on food imports from the inner direction. In return it offers bonded warehousing, hazardous-cargo certification, and a transit workforce experienced in multi-aperture coordination that no single-junction system can match.

Faction Notes

The name is a point of pride. Kampala — the Ugandan capital — was the home city of the Nakibuuka family, whose Wave 3 expedition charter was the first to successfully activate what is now the fourth aperture, the gate connection to GJ 1116A that turned Kampala Gate from a through-route into a genuine hub. The family still governs through an elected Parliament, and the East African Commonwealth heritage remains visible in governance style: consultative, coalition-building, skeptical of unilateral executive action.

Four apertures mean four Gate Corporation maintenance teams — the largest Gate Corp footprint in the outer north_reach band. Gate Corp staff here come from across the Reach and represent the most culturally diverse residential population in this system cluster. The local Parliament has a standing committee on Gate Corp relations because the transit workforce's interests frequently diverge from those of permanent residents on questions of housing allocation, social services, and local commerce licensing.

The Concord Assembly's presence is formal and regular. Kampala Gate's delegate is known as an effective committee operator — the system's four-gate transit revenue means it has economic stakes in Assembly commercial policy decisions that it defends vigorously.

Silence Topic

The fourth aperture — the one the Nakibuuka expedition activated — has a documented anomaly in its transit-time calculations: cargo passing through GJ 1116A direction arrives at destination with a consistent 0.3-second discrepancy against predicted transit duration. Gate Corporation's position is that this is a sensor calibration artifact. An independent analysis commissioned by a freight insurance company reached a different conclusion and was quietly settled out of adjudication before its findings entered the public record.

Narrative Hook

Kampala Gate's fourth gate has been producing a 0.3-second anomaly for sixty years, and the Gate Corporation's explanation has never quite satisfied the people who actually route cargo through it.

Calibration Note

Wave_3 settlement at hop 4 reflects an activation-era expansion pattern: the system's fourth aperture was the product of deliberate Wave 3 exploration rather than early infrastructure laying. The East African founding heritage (Ugandan specifically) is consistent with the cultural framework's Commonwealth corridor definition — Ugandan and broader East African cultures passed through British institutional structures and emerged with the hybrid pragmatic character the corridor is known for. The "Gate" modifier in the name was a late addition — the system was called "Kampala" for its first generation and the transit importance only became obvious after the fourth aperture's activation.
