jpmschweitzerandClaude Opus 4.6 b672b9c269 feat(docs): restructure wiki taxonomy with templates and Krenn System entry (#301, #319)
Move wiki from docs/wiki/ to root wiki/. Add 14 category templates with
YAML frontmatter, governance model, hierarchical spatial structure
(system > station > district > location). Populate Krenn System entry
as first concrete star system. Update cross-references in workshop and
sprint docs.

Tav Merik

Tier 3 NPC | Smuggling Ring + Logistics Hub | Flat

Essential Axes

Want

Do the watch. Don't get noticed. Prove useful.

Tav is the ring's lookout — stationed at strategic positions during operations to watch for security patrols, unexpected personnel, or anything that shouldn't be where it is. The job is simple: watch, signal, move. Tav takes it seriously because it's the first responsibility anyone has trusted him with, and because the consequences of failure are immediate and severe.

Routine

Legitimate: Irregular shift work at the logistics hub (cargo staging, equipment prep). Not a fixed roster — Tav picks up shifts as available, which gives him flexible hours that align conveniently with ring operations.

Ring operations: Positioned at corridor intersections or freight bay entries during night-shift courier runs (1-2x per week). Watches for 30-60 minute windows. Signals Renn via lattice if a patrol approaches.

Off-duty: Home or wandering the district. Tav doesn't drink at the bar — he's young, broke, and socially peripheral.

Personality

Quiet, watchful, nervous. Tav is the youngest ring member (early 20s). He's hypervigilant during operations — every footstep sounds like a patrol, every shadow could be someone approaching. This nervous energy is his strength (nothing gets past him on watch) and his weakness (the anxiety is visible to anyone who knows what to look for).

Voice Hint

"Clear. South corridor, no movement for the last twenty minutes. You're good." [Short, precise, slightly breathless]

Function Note

Tav is the peripheral ring member — the person at the lowest level of the organization who sees the physical movement of operations without understanding the structure above him. For the smuggler, Tav is a reliable set of eyes. For the detective, Tav is a loitering youth in the wrong place at the wrong time — easily explained away as a lost worker, but suspicious if the detective is already tracking corridor movement patterns. Tav is also the ring member most likely to be caught and least likely to have useful information — he knows routes, not names. Catching Tav reveals a thread but not the tapestry.

Dual-Lens Notes

Smuggler: Trusted lookout. Known quantity. "Tav's on watch. Good — he doesn't miss anything."

Detective: Loitering youth. Anomaly if context is right. "Young worker. Irregular shift. Seen near freight corridors outside his posted hours. Probably nothing. Filing it."

Pattern / Motivation

Pattern (System A): SYSTEM — Tav follows ring procedure. He is the lookout — positioned at corridor intersections during operations, watching for patrols, signaling the courier. His function is institutional: he is a cog in the ring's operational machinery, executing a defined role within a defined process. SYSTEM describes his mechanical participation, not his personal investment. Motivation (System B): CIVILIAN — Tav is the lowest rung. He watches the door. That is the whole job. He does not understand the operation above him, does not participate in planning, and has minimal connection to the ring's strategy. The CIVILIAN motivation reflects his peripheral engagement — he was told it mattered, and he believed it.

Composition read: SYSTEM + CIVILIAN creates the lowest operational rung: "Tav watches the door. That's the whole job." Tav participates in the system (SYSTEM) without understanding it (CIVILIAN). He is the ring member most likely to be caught and least likely to have useful information — he knows routes and timing, not names or structure. For the detective, catching Tav reveals a thread but not the tapestry. For the smuggler, Tav is a reliable set of eyes whose nervous energy makes him effective on watch but vulnerable to pressure. The v0.2 potential is in what Tav represents: a young person trapped in a role he barely understands, doing dangerous work because someone told him it was important.
