Helderoog — "bright eye" in Afrikaans — is the dead-end spur off Eerste Wacht, and the name is both descriptive and inherited.

The F5/F6V primary is the brightest star on the entire corridor, a white subgiant that produces light intense enough to require viewport filtering on approach. After the dim K5 of Eerste Wacht and the dimmer K-M binary of the unsettled gap behind it, the transition into Helderoog's system is a physical shock — the light is not amber, not red, not the managed dimness of the deep frontier's K-dwarf corridor. It is white. The habitable world sits further out than in K-dwarf systems, a terrestrial body with a thick atmosphere, strong magnetic field, and the kind of vigorous weather that a high-luminosity star produces when it drives a full-scale hydrological cycle. The world is lush in the particular way that well-lit, well-watered worlds are lush: dense native vegetation, active surface hydrology, seasonal variation that a human body reads as temperate rather than managed.

The wave_4 settlers arrived approximately 160 years ago, and they arrived from Eerste Wacht. This is important. The founding cohort was not a long-range expedition from the inner Reach — it was a daughter colony of the 500-year-old Afrikaans-heritage community one hop behind. Eerste Wacht's population had reached a point where the elder council determined that the community's carrying capacity and its genetic diversity protocols required expansion.
