The system was named by its wave_4 founding party, a Filipino-heritage agricultural cooperative whose founders used the old word for "long life" not as aspiration but as defiance — they had been told by at least two inner-corridor development agencies that the system's K-type primary did not warrant the investment of a permanent settlement, and they funded the charter themselves.

The founding cooperative was correct about one thing the development agencies missed: the system's cold habitable body supports a specific microbial ecology that, with modification, produces a highly efficient atmospheric nitrogen-fixing cycle. Mabuhay's farms are not productive by inner-reach standards.
