Supply Dependency

Singh's Landing is an agricultural producer — one of the earliest in this arm of the north_reach. The K4Vp star's peculiar spectral characteristics produce a low-UV habitable zone that proved exceptionally well-suited to the high-yield grain varieties the Wave 2 agricultural programs were developing. The system exports processed grain, legume concentrates, and genetic seed stock toward Puerto Rivera (GJ 780), which distributes it inward. GJ 178 (the other spur connection) is an outer system that imports Singh's Landing staples and has no viable alternative food source; the Landing is effectively its life support.

Faction Notes

Harjinder Singh's Wave 2 landing was the defining event of this system's identity, and the system has not stopped talking about it for four hundred years. Singh was a Punjabi agricultural engineer whose expedition's landing on the primary habitable world became the founding narrative: forty-two people, one malfunctioning gate ferry, an improvised landing on a world that turned out to be more habitable than anyone expected. The "Landing" in the name is not metaphorical — it refers to that specific event, and the original landing site is a civic monument.

Governance is a Council of Elders elected by community ward — a parliamentary form that reflects Commonwealth tradition filtered through the specific social structure of an early agricultural settlement where community cohesion mattered more than procedural complexity. The Council is efficient and practical, qualities it values explicitly over procedural elaboration.

The Assembly presence is light — a compliance relay, annual fleet transit, a delegate who attends sessions but rarely takes the floor. Singh's Landing has no disputes with the Assembly and no ambitions to engage it. The system's spur-end topology means transit volume is low enough that Assembly commercial frameworks affect it mainly as background regulation rather than active governance.

Silence Topic

The genetic seed stock library — Singh's Landing's most economically significant asset — has been operating under a licensing agreement with an agricultural Syndic for sixty years. The agreement grants the Syndic exclusive distribution rights for varieties developed after Year 400 of settlement. A recent audit by the Council's agriculture committee found that several varieties whose development predates Year 400 have been recategorized in the Syndic's records as post-400 developments. The committee chair has not yet decided whether this is a recordkeeping error or a deliberate enclosure of the commons.

Narrative Hook

Singh's Landing holds four hundred years of agricultural heritage in its seed vaults, and someone has been quietly moving the line between what belongs to the people and what belongs to the contract.

Calibration Note

Wave_2, spur-end at hop 4 reflects an early agricultural push that followed a promising survey report rather than gate-path logic — the spur was worth developing because the agricultural potential was exceptional. The "p" in K4Vp denotes peculiar spectral characteristics, which the page uses as the agricultural advantage that drew Wave 2 settlement. The South Asian (Punjabi) founding heritage is consistent with Commonwealth corridor definition and with the cultural framework's note that Indian heritage is part of the north_reach Commonwealth stream, not an exception.
