The name is Portuguese and it was chosen with the self-awareness of people who knew they were settling at the edge of what had been settled before, in a system that connected an ancient dead-end community to the broader network for the first time. The wave_5 founders arrived approximately forty years ago, which makes Posto Avançado one of the youngest settlements in the south_reach and the youngest in this particular section of the outer corridor. They came because the gate to Velha Guarda (GJ 4A) was there and someone needed to be the connection between a four-hundred-year-old dead-end community and the rest of human space.
