THE DRIFTER'S GUIDE TO THE REACH — GJ 425A
GJ 425A is the gap between Leuchtturm and wherever GJ 177 is — a through_route that connects one spur terminus to a distant neighbor, passed through by a handful of vessels per year and inspected by no one.
The Unmaintained Middle
The corridor was mapped during the wave-3 deep frontier expansion. The transit infrastructure was installed. The automated relay hardware was set running. No settlement attempt followed, and no survey expedition has returned to assess whether conditions have changed since the original mapping. The relay hardware functions. The K-type star does what K-type stars do. The navigation data broadcast for transiting vessels is accurate insofar as anyone can verify accuracy without visiting.
There is no faction presence. There is no silence topic, in the sense that silence requires someone present to maintain it. What GJ 425A has is simply the absence of anyone to notice anything. The Leuchtturm spur-end topology limits throughput — vessels heading to the observatory or coming from GJ 177 pass through, and no one else has particular reason to. The handful of transits per year leave no record beyond what the automated systems log.
What Goes Unexamined
The observatory at Leuchtturm maintains three-century spectroscopic archives that the Veil Institute accesses through professional channels. The corridor to GJ 177 passes through GJ 425A without human oversight. What transits this waypoint in the direction of Leuchtturm, arriving with academic credentials and departing without filing the summary reports their access agreements require, is not a question that the unmanned relay system is equipped to ask. The corridor is transparent to traffic and invisible to oversight. This is a property of the topology that predates anyone's awareness of what Leuchtturm's archive contains and has not been reviewed in light of it.
Practical Information
GJ 425A is nine hops from Gateway. The automated relay hardware is operational. No services are available. The gap between the last inspection and the present one is, by design, indefinite.
Adams of the Guide rates GJ 425A: Unmanned and unscheduled. Traffic passes through unobserved.
