The name is honest. Alejandro Morales led the wave_3 expedition that settled this system three hundred years ago, and the community he founded eventually named itself for the topology that defined it: he came here, and there was nowhere further to go. "End" is not pejorative in the south_reach usage — it is directional, like the end of a river, the place where something reaches its natural terminus. Morales arrived at the end of a navigable path. The community that grew up here has spent three centuries making the most of that fact.

One gate. The single aperture connects to Kruger 60, and through Kruger 60 — two hops to Lalande, then onward — to everything else. There is no shortcut, no alternative routing, no gate that opened fifty years after settlement to provide redundancy. Morales' End came into existence as a dead-end and has remained one. The community's relationship with the outside Reach is mediated entirely through Kruger 60, and the community's relationship with Kruger 60 is therefore one of the defining features of daily life.

The Family Council is the government, and the major family networks are the factions in any political sense.
