THE DRIFTER'S GUIDE TO THE REACH — NOVÁ TRŽNICE
NOVÁ TRŽNICE is the market that three neighboring systems spent three hundred years not building, because building it would have required one of them to stop being a transit hub and start being a destination, which was a reclassification none of them were prepared to make on someone else's behalf.
The Gap That Became a Floor Plan
The Czech founders who noticed this were commercial logistics professionals, not visionaries, which is probably why it worked. Visionaries tend to design the market they want. Logistics professionals design the market that fits the freight flows that already exist. The result — a forty-year-old processing hub sitting at the junction of Port Desrochers, Yongjin, and Jinghu — is not beautiful in any particular way, but it is extremely functional, which is what three centuries of unrealized commercial potential looked like once someone finally drew the floor plan.
The system's character is density. Hundreds of operations occupy the surface settlements: light manufacturers who receive bulk components and finish them for end markets, wholesale consolidators who combine small producer shipments into gate-viable freight loads, workshop fabricators, specialty suppliers, and the brand showrooms that east_reach companies maintain here because Nová Tržnice is the neutral ground where nobody has to travel into someone else's territory to do business. The Market Authority — run by the founding generation and structured, deliberately, so that no single company can dominate — maintains the infrastructure and resolves the disputes.
The Registry
Here is what the free-port charter's transparency provision actually produced: forty years of complete transaction records covering every commercial relationship that has passed through the east_reach's busiest processing junction. Who buys from whom. At what price. On what schedule. Supply chain dependencies that do not appear in any corporate filing. Pricing relationships that would be inconvenient to acknowledge. Commercial alliances whose participants would prefer they go unnoticed.
The founders traded transaction logging for reduced tariff assessment, which was a reasonable concession in year one when the registry contained forty entries. In year forty, the registry is the most detailed map of the east_reach's real commercial relationships that exists anywhere, and the founders control who can query it.
Several parties have requested expanded access in the past decade. The Market Authority has approved none of these requests in full, without public explanation. The Commission has its own position on this. The Commission's position and the Authority's position have not yet produced a legal outcome, which means the registry sits in the founders' hands for as long as the founders find that arrangement convenient.
Practical Information
Nová Tržnice is four hops from Gateway with three gate apertures connecting to Port Desrochers, Yongjin, and Jinghu. The habitable body is genuinely good land — temperate, well-watered, self-sufficient in food — which the founders treated as a secondary amenity until the commercial infrastructure was running. The second generation is beginning to suggest that this prioritization could be revisited. The founding generation is still running the Market Authority.
