Resonance Premium

Type: Corporation — Media Platform and Catalogue Service (Premium Curated) Status: Canonical Scope: Core primary; reach-wide premium subscriber base secondary Headquarters: Sirius (GJ 244A) — core corridor, Commission hub system, 1 hop from Gateway Classification: Sub-Syndic platform enterprise; premium-tier content curation and distribution

Overview

Resonance Premium is the Reach's leading premium subscription media platform. The subscription costs more than Open Corridor Stream or Transit Library, significantly more than the free tiers those platforms offer, and the price difference is the premise: Resonance's curation team reviews submitted content against defined quality standards, and only what passes appears in the Resonance catalogue. Subscribers pay for selection, not volume.

This value proposition is substantively delivered. The Resonance catalogue is smaller than OCS's by an order of magnitude and represents a genuinely higher average quality. Subscribers who do not want to search through thousands of titles for something worth watching use Resonance because the work has been done for them. The platform's churn rate is among the lowest in the catalogue sector, which means subscribers stay, which means the brand's quality reputation is periodically verified by people who would leave if it weren't true.

The curation process that produces this catalogue is where the premise and the practice diverge.

Origin

Resonance launched twenty-four years ago as a Sirius-based experiment in curated access — the bet that there was a subscriber market that would pay for quality selection rather than quantity availability. The founding team came from the commercial media side of the Sirius economy, with backgrounds in advertising and content licensing rather than production.

The first three years were difficult. The curation cost more than projected, the subscriber base grew more slowly, and the quality reputation took time to establish. The break came when a Resonance-curated documentary produced by a small Groombridge studio won a corridor media prize; the resulting attention introduced Resonance to a subscriber cohort that valued the cultural signal of a Resonance recommendation as much as the content itself. The subscriber base grew steadily after that.

The founding team sold controlling interest twelve years ago to a Sirius investment group.

Operations

Curation process: Content producers and independent creators submit works for catalogue consideration. Resonance's curation team reviews submissions against a defined quality framework covering production quality, narrative integrity, and audience suitability. Works that pass review enter the catalogue. The curation team is nine people.

Subscription model: Single subscription tier at a fixed monthly rate. All catalogue content is included. No per-item charges. The subscriber base spans the Reach, with the highest concentration in the inward and core corridors.

Content licensing: Producers whose work enters the Resonance catalogue receive a per-stream licensing fee. The fee rate is above OCS's standard rate, which reinforces Resonance's positioning with quality producers.

Producer relations: A separate team manages relationships with established producers — studios and independent creators who consistently produce catalogue-worthy content and whose submissions are processed on a faster track.

Political Relationships

Open Corridor Stream / Transit Library: Direct competitors in the platform-catalogue segment. The positioning is distinct: OCS serves independent creators at volume, Transit Library emphasizes broad access, Resonance serves the quality-seeking subscriber. There is overlap at the premium margin of OCS and the quality selection of Transit Library.

Ondori Interactive: The east reach interactive studio has three titles in the Resonance catalogue, all from the company's original production work. The relationship is commercial and has been stable for eight years.

Lattice Commission: Standard platform licensing and content certification compliance. Routine.

What They Don't Talk About

The curation process pays its nine curators on a per-accepted-title basis: a flat fee for each work admitted to the catalogue, on top of their base salary. The per-title incentive was introduced six years ago as a productivity mechanism, following a period where the curation backlog was longer than the business needed.

The incentive structure works. Catalogue volume has increased, backlog has reduced, and curators are motivated. It also creates a direct financial incentive for curators to accept titles rather than reject them, and to accept titles quickly rather than evaluate them rigorously.

Three years after the incentive's introduction, the producer relations team identified a secondary dynamic: producers who paid for the accelerated review track — a premium fee for priority queue placement, disclosed to submitters as a production service cost — were having their titles accepted at a significantly higher rate than standard queue submitters. The rate difference persisted after controlling for producer experience and prior catalogue performance. An internal analysis found that curators were weighing accelerated track placement as an informal signal of producer seriousness, which influenced their evaluation.

The analysis was presented to management. The conclusion management reached was that accelerated track titles were, in practice, higher quality on average, and that the correlation was a feature rather than a bias. The per-title incentive structure was not changed. The accelerated track fee was raised.

The effect is that access to the Resonance premium catalogue — which carries a quality signal that affects a producer's commercial relationships across the Reach — is partially pay-to-enter. The curation standards are real. The financial pathway that improves a submission's odds is not disclosed to producers or to subscribers.

Gameplay Relevance

Resonance Premium is a platform-layer presence — relevant in any investigation touching core media economics or the cultural credibility signal that a Resonance catalogue listing provides.

The curator incentive structure is the investigative thread. A player with access to Resonance's internal analytics — specifically the acceptance rate data by submission track, and the per-title incentive payment records — can reconstruct the financial dynamic. The internal analysis document is the most direct evidence; it names the correlation and management's response to it.

A curator source would be the most direct access route. Nine people know how the incentive structure affects their own evaluation behavior.
