jpmschweitzerandClaude Fable 5 7c5dc35b38 docs(meta): D-226 two-waterline note (T-1172 — Tyre's rung-indexed-coast ruling)
The drawn coastline is a family of curves indexed by rung (warp cutoff
admits more octaves at finer rungs), so no single authoritative server-
side waterline exists — reconciliation is a presentation-frame
operation at the draw site; the skeleton stays rung-independent. Clip
retires into T-1170's coast-terminating courses.

jpmschweitzerandClaude Fable 5 8a747e332c fix(ui): PR #195 review round — attractor stroke widths zoom-compensated (Tyre I1/I2/I3)
I1: _draw_attractor_shape's three stroke-width args (Confluence arc,
Coastal/NaturalHarbor arc, Oasis spokes) were raw screen-space literals
— Godot multiplies stroke widths by canvas scale exactly like radii, so
at the Region orbital fit zoom the outlines rasterized at ~0.01px, the
identical sub-pixel class the dot/ring compensation fixed, missed on
glyph internals (and attractors are Region-only — precisely where it
bites). Widths now arrive pre-compensated via a px_w param, keeping the
primitive pure. Regression pin: a source-scan test asserting no
draw_arc/draw_line in the function carries a bare numeric width (the
draw-smoke suite documents its own vacuous-pass mode, so source-scan is
the environment-independent gate); revert-verified by name. I2: D-226
visibility-direction sentence — Araminta's fade-down inversion recorded
as pre-T-1170 with its single revisit point named. I3: class-header
call-site claim corrected (enter() funnels through _enter_at_rung).

jpmschweitzerandClaude Fable 5 365b044e79 docs(meta): D-226 wave-1 nature-overlay carrier note (T-1156 — Tyre's ruling)
Rivers/basins/attractors ride the existing whole-body layer1 field —
neither AtlasLayerResponse ceiling touched, no tagged-envelope
migration. Per-rung refinement is client-side class filtering on the
additive river_class (distinct from T-1162's server-side Nyquist
cutoff: a fixed finite graph has nothing to truncate). General rule:
discrete map features ride the whole-body overlay family filtered
client-side; continuous per-metre fields ride the windowed per-cell
arrays — wave 2's roads/settlements inherit this unchanged. Riparian
vegetation response is the named T-1168 forward contract, deferred.

jpmschweitzerandClaude Fable 5 f50c93b2c8 docs(meta): PR #194 I3 — §8 step 6 erratum + D-226 filter-axis note (T-1161 two-axes supersedes COMPOSITE_SMOOTH retirement)
Tyre's exact capture: the design pass's 'retire COMPOSITE_SMOOTH /
crisp draw_rect as the only path' is superseded — the const survives
as the compile-time pipeline axis, the crisp path stays as debug/
compare, and crispness-at-sparse-rungs is delivered by the per-rung
sampling-filter policy instead. T-1155's retirement framing is
cancelled (ticket closes on merge). Also records the R2 softening:
the T-1162 relief band adds sub-district elevation variance at
Quarter cutoff, so temperature no longer steps strictly at the
district there — intended, noted so nobody is surprised later.

jpmschweitzerandClaude Fable 5 4c34327b41 docs(ui): PR #193 review capture — D-226 pending-shape protocol note + stagger comment dedupe
Tyre's APPROVE items (T-1163): record the two-legal-wire-shapes-for-one-
logical-state protocol invariant (whole-response Pending AND Ready+null
district_window both mean 're-poll'; only NotFound/Error are terminal) as
a D-226 note under the T-1124 §4 amendment area, so a future server
refactor of the asymmetry must migrate every consumer in the same change.
Drop the duplicated 5-line stagger comment in atlas_window_tile_set.gd.

Follow-up tickets filed on main: T-1164 (tiled terminal-recovery),
T-1165 (queue_redraw edge root-cause), T-1166 (cold-launch test tier).

jpmschweitzer da15261276 fix(client): PR #192 review round — per-rung legend, Region coalescing + clamp boundary tests, halving-loop honesty
All Hoshe/Araminta findings addressed (Tyre approved outright), none
retracted — plus a Dudley stop-and-flag discovery that improved on the
asked-for fix:

- Legend 100x lie (Araminta, blocking): subtitle computed via
  spacing_for_rung() and refreshed at all three _held_granularity_v2
  write sites. Region test asserts 204.800 km/cell; the District
  direction needed a stale-header-aware helper — a District-only test
  spuriously passes against the old literal by coincidence.
- Region coalescing coverage (Hoshe 1): both directions tested
  (Region-vs-District separate slots; Region-vs-Region coalesces).
- Clamp boundary tests + dangling citations (Hoshe 2): writing the
  requested halving-loop-fires test surfaced that the loop is PROVABLY
  UNREACHABLE at current constants (per-axis clamp forecloses it —
  brute-forced independently on both server and client sides). Ruling:
  the loop stays as defensive code; the test became a property sweep
  pinning both the wire-cap invariant and the loop's no-op status (a
  future constant change breaks it loudly); doc comments on both sides
  drop the load-bearing framing and state the truth; the old client
  mirror test that claimed the loop fires (passing on the per-axis
  clamp alone) is replaced the same way. Client citations now name the
  real server tests verbatim.
- Governance (Tyre): D-226 amendment note — progressive cross-rung
  refinement EXTENDS T-1124 §4 (not supersedes); legacy u32 field
  scheduled for retirement (T-1159).

Server: 1818 lib tests green, clippy/fmt clean. Client: zoom_ladder
48/48, window_request 26/26, viewer 74/74; gdlint clean. Every fix
revert-verified.

jpmschweitzer 0159a63cc2 fix(simulation): PR #191 review round — n-clamp mirror, min_wl band quantization, coalescing coverage, fixture consumer
All seven Hoshe/Tyre findings addressed, none retracted:
- n-clamp/echo/staleness triangle (Tyre C1): client _clamp_window_n_mirror
  (bit-for-bit twin of the server clamp, canonicalize_district_center
  precedent) applied before _n is stored/sent; server test pins the
  quarter n=32 -> echo 16 contract.
- min_wl band quantization (Hoshe 1/Tyre C3): quantize_min_wl_m snaps to
  MIN_WL_BANDS_M {0, 32768, 16384, 8192, 4096} before cache key and echo
  (design doc §5's unbounded-key fix), reusing the one true
  OCTAVE_WAVELENGTHS_M array; docstrings now state the server-quantizes/
  client-sends-raw split; same-band cache-sharing test.
- coalescing granularity axis (Hoshe 2): two tests pin different-
  granularity requests as separate in-flight slots and same-granularity
  coalescing unchanged.
- orphaned fixture (Hoshe 3): test_protocol.gd consumer decodes
  atlas_response_ready_with_window.msgpack through the real IPC path and
  asserts the new fields.
- atlas_window_request coverage (Hoshe 4): new test file — stale-drop on
  granularity mismatch, old-server-shape defaults accepted, clamp mirror
  formula + wiring. First draft's quarter-via-request_now test would have
  passed for the wrong reason (request_now resets granularity by design
  until T-1153) — split into formula pin + reachable-path wiring proof.
- granularity type seam (Tyre C2): field + resolver docstrings state
  finer-only integer multiples with resolve_window_granularity as the
  single widening point; matching contract note added to the D-226
  T-1143-rulings amendment.

jpmschweitzer 143d6381ca docs(meta): T-1143 rulings — D-226(d) floor opened, progressive-tiling planetary carrier, continuous seam zoom; implementation chain T-1149..T-1155
Jeroen's three rulings on the zoom-ladder design pass, recorded as a
D-226 amendment: (1) 'we set a new BHAG so old restrictions are up for
debate' — the item-(d) ceiling opens for the Atlas windowed viewport
(below-quarter rungs gated on the T-1154 measurement pass; chunk/tile
still never a whole-body planetary layer); (2) planetary rung ships as
progressive capped-density tiling on the generalized district_window
carrier; (3) planetary->regional entry becomes continuous cursor-anchored
zoom with full-zoom-out resetting to the canonical orbital frame (D-013
zoom-owns-descent restored; click-through cut superseded).

Design doc stamped with the resolved rulings. T-1143 closed. Implementation
chain: T-1149 (derive_at_metres + octave cutoff) -> T-1150 (granularity
carrier + aliasing test) / T-1151 (window par_iter) -> T-1152 (derived
planetary rung) / T-1153 (client continuous ladder) -> T-1155 (smoothing
retirement); T-1154 below-quarter measurement gate.

jpmschweitzer bc204262be docs(meta): D-166 amendment corollary — heightmap PNGs demoted to invisible derivation input; planetary level fully derived at canvas resolution
Jeroen's same-day corollary to the zoom-ladder condition: no zoom level
displays the authored heightmaps directly — even the orbital/planetary map
is derived output, sampled at canvas resolution (continuous field, not
fixed rasters). Kills zoom over/undersampling by construction and makes
the map viewport-adaptive. import_heightmaps survives as input storage
only; AtlasViewer's texture display path retires when the derived
planetary rung lands. T-1143 design pass extended with items (e)-(g).

jpmschweitzer 51c8cb86cd docs(meta): D-166 amendment — seamless Atlas zoom ladder is a hard Phase-4 deliverable condition
Jeroen's ruling from the Groombridge/Lendel zoom-ladder captures: the BHAG
stays 'a Reach a character can travel through'; the Phase 4 exit bar now
additionally requires a continuous Atlas zoom ladder (planetary map -> tile
scale, each level deterministically derived at native granularity, never
magnified interpolation). Evidence in the record: the 16-district window is
sub-pixel vs its heightmap source at Lendel scale, so everything below fit
zoom is D-227 invented detail that must be derived, not smoothed.

CLAUDE.md Phase-4 row carries the condition; T-1143 (the ladder design
pass) appended + raised to high — it and the D-226(d) floor question are
now phase-gating.

jpmschweitzerandClaude Fable 5 372ce37bb6 feat(ui): T-1145 round-2 polish — cover-fit, WASD+edge-scroll pan, smoothed composite (Jeroen rulings)
Cover-fit: fit_window_view zooms from the viewport's LARGER dimension,
no margin factor (any factor under 1.0 leaves a long-axis gap — checked
numerically) — the composite fills edge to edge, overhanging the short
axis into pan-space; the refloat center-equality early-return already
prevents refetch churn at rest (proved, not just tested).

Input model (Jeroen: drag breaks click semantics with map objects):
LMB-drag pan REMOVED from the regional window; clicks are
object-reserved. Pan = held WASD/arrows polled in _process (delta- and
zoom-scaled, camera-pans-toward-key convention verified numerically)
plus edge-scroll within 24px of the viewport border; both suppressed
over UI and on OS focus loss; both set _user_adjusted; wheel zoom and
Esc unchanged. Reads RAW physical keycodes deliberately — independent
of the shared D-054 move_* InputMap actions bound to the same keys
(whose occlusion-leak is pre-existing and now ticketed as T-1146).
Pole wall + east-west wrap unchanged, re-driven through the new
inputs; drag tests replaced, not kept.

Smoothed composite (interim pending T-1143): per-cell colors bake into
an n x n Image/ImageTexture (exact existing colorizer incl. overlay +
ice tint) drawn once with LINEAR filtering — GPU bilinear reads as
terrain, the planetary heightmap's own treatment. Crisp per-cell path
preserved behind COMPOSITE_SMOOTH for T-1143 A/B. Rebuild only on
reference-identity change of window/toggle (is_same — verified true
reference equality; value-equal distinct dicts DO rebuild).

Governance: T-1145 amendment paragraph on D-226 T-1124 SS5 (all three
supersessions); pql decisions validate ok.

Suites: window_viewer 74/74, window_geometry 32/32, window_overlay
(new) 16/16; gdlint clean on all six files.

jpmschweitzerandClaude Fable 5 96f6baa930 docs(meta): D-226 T-1124 prose corrections — real TerrainAnalysis cost model + glaciation gate (PR #187 C1/C4)
SS4: the 7/29ms per-window figures now state their warm-analysis
assumption — the first window on a body additionally pays one ~45ms
run_layer1 into the lazy per-body LRU on the GenerationQueue
(capacity 8, browsed-bodies-only, recency eviction, eviction re-pays);
subsequent windows any (center, n) hit the LRU. SS5: the glaciation
tint gate corrected from >= Light to >= Moderate, matching
apply_ice_tint's reference gate (Light is erosion signatures, not
visible ice) — code stood, prose was wrong.

jpmschweitzerandClaude Fable 5 69123904a5 docs(meta): D-226 T-1124 SS5 entry revision — fixed planetary map + rectangle-cursor click-through (Jeroen, companion hands-on)
The regional-map entry changes from zoom-threshold LOD swap to
explicit click-through: the planetary heightmap view becomes FIXED
(pan/zoom removed together with its replacement in T-1138, never
before); hovering shows a rectangle cursor representing the
regional-mode bounds; click descends centered on the click point's
derived DistrictPos. DISTRICT_WINDOW_MIN_ZOOM retired before ever
being built; D-013's zoom-owns-descent superseded for this seam only
(click owns descent). In-mode behavior unchanged (pan-only refetch,
debounce, cache, border-fade). Morph transition explicitly deferred.
Open at T-1138: the rectangle is an affordance, not to scale — n=64
is ~131 km = a few px on a planetary canvas; resolve the honest
representation in the screen design. T-1138 description updated;
T-1140 filed for the two companion UI defects fixed alongside.

jpmschweitzerandClaude Fable 5 c20c175af1 docs(meta): D-226 T-1124 amendment — PR #185 Troblum findings (windowed-family ceiling, queue-based serving, comment reconciliation)
All five findings applied, none touching the option-(c) carrier choice:
(1) SS2 gains a binding windowed-family ceiling — exactly ONE
windowed-query field; a second windowed query is a dedicated response
message by rule (two concurrent windowed payloads would need the
per-field request-correlation that IS the tagged framing — that is the
trigger to build it); symmetric with the request side's five-hard cap.
(2) SS1 gains a binding serving model — window derives ride the same
Rayon queue + Pending pattern as whole-body cache misses, never inline
in the PreInput drain (which the codebase deliberately keeps expensive
work off); per-connection coalescing recommended; SS4's 7/29ms figures
reframed as worker latency, not tick-thread cost. (3) The
layer_proxy.rs growth-ceiling comment (comment-only diff) now records
the T-1124 ruling as RESOLVED — scoped to the dense whole-body family,
district_window outside it, second windowed field = dedicated-message
migration — instead of deferring to an open design question. (4) SS2
documents that body scoping rides the enclosing AtlasLayerResponse
envelope (cache key body_id+center+n; echo disambiguates within-body).
(5) SS5 entry clarified: zoom threshold alone triggers the swap
(works over open ocean), first window centers on the pan-center's
derived DistrictPos; downstream settlement-anchoring phrasing
reconciled.

pql decisions validate clean.

Five sections, Tyre data shape + Araminta screen/encoding (T-1112
pattern): (1) request = serde-default window_center/window_n ON
AtlasLayerRequest (five-shape demux cap honored); (2) response carrier
RULING — district_window is a windowed viewport query keyed
(body, center, n) with echoed-center staleness guard, deliberately
OUTSIDE the dense whole-body layer family whose growth ceiling is
re-scoped (not busted) to that family; (3) six per-cell fields incl.
glaciation_grade (T-1127 deferral accepted) and Marine-exhaustive
vegetation; (4) binding budget — 7 bytes/cell, MAX_N=64 (~28 KiB),
DEFAULT_N=32, temp shares the T-1118 region-ramp colorizer across zoom
levels (D-243 continuity), pan-only re-request (zoom never refetches),
D-227-determinism client cache; (5) screen — zoom-threshold LOD swap
in the existing AtlasViewer, morphology base with elev_q lightness,
gen_dw_* toggles, glaciation as always-on tint modifier, Marine
transparent, implant chrome discipline.

Validated via pql decisions validate. Implementation is follow-up
ticket scope (server wiring must resolve the named TerrainAnalysis
transience decision; client screen).

jpmschweitzerandClaude Fable 5 90655382eb feat(simulation): D-232 three-phase trait draw + deviation/swerve system (T-994, T-1003)
T-994 — three-phase draw replacing the flat splitmix64 flavor pick:
- Phase 1 body K-draw (trait_draw.rs): hard gates -> soft weights (two-part
  geographic_sector join, PR #148) -> SeedChain::for_body-seeded weighted
  draw of K (5/3/1/0 by ComplexityTier), pins count toward K, coverage-aware
  over a new body-level district-type-mix aggregate threaded into
  CityGenerationContext at L3->L4 dispatch.
- Phase 2 district-dominant pick keyed by the D-243 2048m District cell —
  settlements sharing a cell independently derive the identical template.
  Resolved at dispatch, never in FillChunk (T-987 stays pure).
- trait_catalog_reader.rs: systems.db reader for trait_templates +
  atlas_body_trait_bias (D-225 resource pattern), registered in main.rs
  with graceful degradation.
- BlockSkeleton carries district_type; assign_block_tags is a pure lookup.

T-1003 — deviation/swerve system (trait_swerve.rs):
- ArchitectureFlavorRef is now InVocabulary(u8) | Swerve(tag).
- Rare per-building wildcard: foreign-import pool (other corridors +
  cross_corridor) driven by Epicenter/Passage tier, mixed faction,
  road-graph degree; heritage-callback pool (own-corridor heritage) driven
  by isolation, remote tier, founding_age_years. Integer bps, base 100,
  cap 300 per driver — placeholder constants pending calibration.
- Sparsity escape hatch = same mechanism, necessity-triggered at the
  phase-2 pick (deterministic max-weight over the hard-gate-eligible pool).
- New SeedDomains: TraitVocabulary(13) / TraitDistrict(14) / TraitSwerve(15).

Governance: D-232 amended (district pinned to the D-243 2048m tier — the
D-222/D-243 redefinition was never captured; swerve driver mappings +
placeholder rates recorded), D-229 flavor_ref field updated to the enum
shape, D-235 amended (T-995 vocabulary ratification note; rides here due
to single-file entanglement).

jpmschweitzerandClaude Fable 5 766ceb436c feat(db): ObjectTag registry ratified + importer validation — resolves Q-049 (T-995)
The shipped 28-tag catalog palette is canonical (user ratification,
/whats-next refinement 2026-07-07). New machine-readable registry
wiki/economics/object_tag_vocabulary.toml (wall/roof/facade/street axes +
4 generic fallback terminals, Miri/Araminta co-owned header). Importer
validation in economy_import/traits.py: V-TT-03 (every catalog
allow/block/visual_bundle tag exists in the registry, axis-checked) and
V-TT-04 (fallback graph: non-generics declare a parent, chains acyclic,
resolve to a generic — absorbs T-1004's Phase-4 slice). Registry added to
generator_sources (stamp coverage); systems.db regenerated + stamped.
Q-049 marked Resolved — divergence is now a loud build failure.

jpmschweitzerandClaude Fable 5 3d6dcc9d05 docs+fix: sidequest close-out — T-1095 head tint, design doc, wardrobe docs, changelog (T-1088/T-1089)
T-1095 fixed: template heads now receive the body's skin tone (same
treatment as seg_head) — _load_head passes tone.lit with a full-white
fallback mask through _attach_to_bone; without a mask sidecar the tint was
silently ignored, so untinted templates read grey against mid/dark tones.
Verified by lookbook render (head_001 on child, tone 6 — face matches arms).

Docs: the T-1088 locomotion design document committed to docs/design/ (the
sandbox code's 'design §' references now resolve in-repo); character-asset-
organization gains §11 Wardrobe Pipeline and sheds three stale claims (the
never-built indexed-greyscale mask plan, single-mask-per-asset for clothing,
the resolved multi-region open question); CHANGELOG carries the sidequest
entry; D-250 amended with the shipped cutaway-modes verdict (mode 2 default,
user-decided live).

Tickets: T-1088, T-1089, T-1095 closed; T-1096 filed (S9 live feel-tuning,
needs the user). The Fable-5 cascade exception is closed — the cascade
resumes at Phase 4 (T-750).

jpmschweitzerandClaude Fable 5 0c91ef28ba feat(simulation): D-252 — Facing is view-only; NPC gaze moves to path-follow intent (T-1093)
apply_move no longer writes Facing (was the only movement-facing coupling,
player-only); the player's view changes solely via explicit SetFacing.
NPC path-follow now sets Facing to the step direction — a strict improvement
recorded as a D-252 correction: NPCs previously never received Facing from
movement, their cones sat at spawn direction while walking. Bump-to-turn
retired (blocked moves change nothing) with a regression test for each
semantic. Wire schema unchanged; player_facing docs now say view/aim.
Gauntlet fixtures regenerated (facing octants now reflect view-only
semantics); client replay + live-roundtrip suites green against the new

generalizes and disappears); the layered head/torso look-at runs during any

jpmschweitzerandClaude Opus 4.8 895bb83bad fix(simulation): unify C1 climate gate across Wetland+Forest+Grassland (PR #172 N1)
Tyre's re-review found the C1 !Barren guard only covered the Grassland arm — the Wetland arm was an unconditional => true. Since derive_morphology_zone has no temperature gate, a frozen + wet + flat district still yields Wetland material, so the wetland palette would paint copse/bog onto frozen marsh: the exact C1 symptom via the material path. Not a regression (the arm was unchanged) and unreachable by the 2 harness bodies, but the D-246 amendment + the voxel.rs comment already claim the guarantee universally, so the gate must match the claim.

Gate is now: apply = !Barren && class in {Wetland, Forest, Grassland}. Behavior change is limited to frozen/hyper-arid Wetland districts (a temperate marsh is never Barren-dominant; Forest is Barren-free by construction). believability.json unchanged (neither harness body reaches the frozen-wet case). New regression test mosaic_pass_does_not_revegetate_frozen_wetland; D-246 amendment reworded to the unified gate. Full cargo test green; clippy -D warnings clean.

jpmschweitzerandClaude Opus 4.8 c17b4f5442 fix(simulation): address PR #172 review — C1 over-vegetation + H1 biosphere gate (T-1084/T-1085)
Hoshe + Tyre review of the micro-habitat-mosaic branch requested changes on two
data-confirmed correctness bugs plus follow-through. All addressed.

Blocking:
- C1 (voxel.rs): the mosaic re-granted vegetation the climate withheld — a frozen
  ice world (Edict) read 61% vegetated tundra. The Grassland apply-gate now fires
  only where the climate already grants cover (!Barren); a climatically-barren
  district (frozen < -50C = surface ice/geology D-239 §2, or hyper-arid moisture<5,
  both resolved to VegetationClass::Barren upstream) is skipped. Genuine tundra
  (cold + moisture>=15) is Scrub upstream and still reaches the tundra palette via
  the same !Barren path. believability.json regenerated: Edict vegetated_districts
  39->0, Arbour 20->8 (its real cold-pole/arid districts revert to barren);
  intra-class variety preserved (Arbour vegetation_classes 3, micro_habitat_distinct 2).
- H1 (bodies.py): biosphere Gate 0 keyed on `inhabited`, conflating settlement with
  biosphere and force-Airless'ing uninhabited-but-alive worlds (D-247: worlds were
  alive before humans). Gate 0 is now settlement-independent — keyed on
  atmosphere/hydrosphere/planet_class. 24 uninhabited-alive worlds now classified
  (was 0); GJ0g-1 (dense atm + rivers) -> NativeMirror. Split 122 Compatible :
  121 Mirror; all 9 canon exemplars hold.

Follow-through:
- C2 (bodies.py + D-247): Gate 0 now reads planet_class (barren -> Airless) as
  D-247's "+ planet_class" phrasing names. D-247 amended to record the actual
  two-gate signal set (atm/hydro/planet_class habitability; economic_base_primary
  chirality; settlement-independence).
- C3 (believability.rs): micro_habitat_distinct criterion relaxed to `== 0 || >= 2`
  — the min-over-patches estimator makes K=3 unreachable against a dominant-entry
  palette; K=2 provisional, Q-123 calibrates.
- C4 + H2 (D-246): amended to record the v1 scope cut — only the Soil-derived
  vegetated/wet classes take the mosaic; material-driven families are `_ => false`
  so Hardpan/Scree are authored but unreachable in v1; no elevation change in v1;
  the mosaic OWNS the §8 climate->vegetation law for the classes it touches.
- H3 (voxel.rs): three dedicated mosaic-pass regression tests — C1 barren-respect,
  §8 material-untouched + forest-textured, T-1040 no-water-without-channel.
- H4 (voxel.rs): relief_signal comment corrected to ~[-1,+1].
- H5 (bodies.py): frontmatter override now strips quotes + validates against the
  4-value enum (warn-and-skip on typo).

systems.db regenerated + stamped (H1). believability golden regenerated (C1).
Full cargo test green; clippy -D warnings + ruff clean.

jpmschweitzerandClaude Opus 4.8 388168eef5 content(wiki): T-1085 biosphere continuity + Cadwal→Linnaeus rename (D-247)
Operationalize the D-247 native-biosphere premise in the wiki (workstreams 1-2).

Chirality continuity — additive clauses making each world's biosphere_class
legible without contradicting existing prose:
- GJ-524 (Mirror): the "no indigenous hazard" world has no indigenous *nutrition*
  either — mirror-handed, inedible/inert; its promise is Earth-crop suitability.
- GJ-166A / Keid (Compatible): names the stakes the charter defends — Linnaeus's
  biology is edible/cultivable/exploitable, which is *why* it is preserved.
- GJ-684A / Freyburg (Compatible): "robust but non-competitive" = compatible
  chemistry, outcompeted by bred cultivars — not inert.
- GJ-124 / Hạ Long (Compatible): the two-generation "learn to farm" was learning
  which native (chirality-compatible) organisms to harvest — a genuine alien crop.
- GJ-197 / Puerto Último (Compatible): native life is edible in its own right;
  farming leaned on trusted introduced cultivars.

IP fix — the Keid conservancy world was named "Cadwal", Jack Vance's exact book
title (same narrative role). Renamed **Linnaeus** (the great classifier; pairs
with its neighbour Solander/Solandar). Capital stays "Vance" (the author tribute).
Renamed in the body frontmatter (+ biosphere_class: NativeCompatible), the
GJ-166A infobox, and the atlas proposal; D-247 clarified. The systems.db bake
(workstream 3) will propagate the DB + regenerate the infobox authoritatively.

Solandar and Oshima need no continuity edit (already canon-consistent).

jpmschweitzerandClaude Opus 4.8 cf80c1e1b5 docs(decisions): add D-246 micro-habitat mosaic + D-247 native biospheres (amend D-228)
D-246 (architecture): intra-class micro-habitat mosaic — a voxel_mosaic()
sub-chunk noise band modulates the D-228 axes into spatially-coherent,
relief-conditioned micro-habitats; palette keyed on surface-class ×
climate-biome × biosphere-register; five new D-228 axis values front-loaded
for determinism; within-patch believability metric in scope. Governs T-1084.

D-247 (content): habitable Reach worlds were alive before humans — the
settlement timeline forbids terraforming from dead rock. An authored per-world
chirality bit gates whether native life is edible (Compatible) or
inedible-but-inert (Mirror); "safe" and "edible" are decoupled; colonization
is ecological war that grows an Earth-crop footprint outward from settlements.
Grounds D-246's native-vs-introduced register.

D-228 amended: +Vegetation{Meadow,Deadfall,Lichen}, +TerrainMaterial{Hardpan,Scree}.

jpmschweitzerandClaude Opus 4.8 677de42bd2 fix(simulation): make voxel relief sub-district + fix integration-test fallout (T-1081)
The push gate's integration tests (not in cargo test --lib) caught two regressions
from the relief change:

- derivation_harness::cross_district_elevation_blend_reduces_seam_step — the relief's
  large per-position term (span 300 → ±200 m, far above the compressed elev_q/2 base)
  swamped the T-1042 seam measurement and clamped heavily at sea level. Fixes:
  (1) shift the voxel-relief octave band to 0.13–1 km (all sub-district, dropping the
  2 km octave that competed with elev_q's district role); (2) reduce VOXEL_RELIEF_SPAN_M
  300 → 100 so relief stays mostly below the base (fewer sea-level clamp artifacts,
  proportional hills); (3) rewrite the seam test's avg_elev to average over an 8 km
  multi-wavelength y-transect so the zero-mean relief cancels, isolating the base seam.
- derivation_harness::golden_seed_determinism_regression — legitimate golden refresh
  (determinism still holds; elevation values changed intentionally).

Believability relief now ≈22 m mean (was 5 m flat; 59 m at the over-aggressive span 300)
— navigable hills without clamp artifacts, 7/8 criteria. Both goldens regenerated; full
cargo test (38 binaries) + clippy --all-targets -D warnings green. D-239 amendment +
Q-123 item 4 updated to the final span/octave/numbers.

jpmschweitzerandClaude Opus 4.8 1eb098129b fix(simulation): pin SeedDomain::VoxelRelief discriminant + record T-1081 review notes
T-1081 review (Hoshe + Tyre): the seed_domain_discriminants_are_pinned test (the
D-224 guard that fails CI if a variant is renumbered — which would silently re-roll
every world's relief field) did not pin the new VoxelRelief = 11. Add the assertion.

Also fold Tyre's two Q-123 calibration notes into item 4: (i) sanity-check the
slope_q*3 + elev_q envelope on a synthetic high-slope body (both terms cap at 100);
(ii) the relief transect is a single diagonal slice (fine for isotropic fBm, revisit
if an anisotropic ridge field is added).

jpmschweitzerandClaude Opus 4.8 ab6e1413d9 feat(simulation): voxel-tier mid-scale relief — navigable hills (T-1081)
The voxel tier read flat (the D-245 "0–3 m, no hills to navigate by" bug):
family generators set elevation from elev_q at a compressed scale plus only ±4 m
micro-scatter, and detail-scatter's mid-scale relief (D-243 §2) only ever reached
the district tier (elev_q), never per-voxel elevation_m.

- detail_scatter.rs: extract the enveloped-fBm core; add `voxel_relief` at the
  0.25–2 km octave band (vs the district 4–40 km band).
- voxel.rs: add the mid-scale relief post-dispatch in derive_voxel_column, body-global
  SeedDomain::VoxelRelief seed (position-keyed), f64 truncated to integer metres (D-010).
  Envelope = slope_q*3 + elev_q — the coarse heightmap gives slope_q ≈ 0 even on high
  ground (Arbour max 13), so elevation must drive ruggedness. Flat families only
  (Alluvial/Lava/BraidedDelta/Dune/Meander); the dramatic families already carry strong
  internal relief and WaterBody stays at sea level.
- seed.rs: SeedDomain::VoxelRelief (D-224 domain separation).
- believability.rs: new `contrast.voxel_relief_m` metric — mean within-district elevation
  range over a 2 km transect (a single 64 m sample chunk is narrower than the relief
  band) + a "voxel relief" criterion.

Arbour @ yolo: voxel relief 5 m → 59 m, 6/8 → 7/8 criteria (remaining fail = the
Q-123 vegetation-denominator item). Edict 59 m. Golden regenerated; 1586 lib tests +
believability harness (determinism) pass; clippy -D warnings clean.

Stack review (Hoshe + Tyre) of T-1083+T-1082+T-1080. Every finding fixed or disposed:

- believability.rs sample_indices: replace the rejection-sampling loop (could stall
  when n ≈ take) with deterministic partial Fisher-Yates — O(n), guaranteed
  termination, distinct, sorted (Hoshe+Tyre).
- believability.rs drainage proxy: exclude water-body districts (all elev 0, no banks)
  and require both wet + dry voxels — they were passing vacuously and inflating the
  metric (Hoshe).
- believability.rs read_cities: log skipped malformed rows instead of dropping silently
  (Hoshe).
- voxel.rs: add the 3 WaterBody zones to all_families_no_panic_at_extreme_positions +
  fix the "7 families" comment (Hoshe).
- climate_constants.toml: bold warning that [moisture_gradient] is not loaded until
  T-1032 — tune ClimateConstants::default() (Tyre).

jpmschweitzerandClaude Opus 4.8 bb5069aa13 feat(simulation): district moisture spatial gradient (T-1080)
moisture_q was a single body constant (derive_moisture_q took only &BodyParams →
80 for every one of 2048 ocean-world districts), so vegetation/terrain/ecotones
were uniform — "nothing to fuzz" (the T-1080 believability bug).

- district_profile.rs: derive_moisture_q is now a body ceiling (hydrosphere+atmosphere)
  × per-district gradient — latitude (equator wet → pole dry), elevation (orographic/
  rain-shadow), continentality (100 − ocean_fraction_q). Integer/D-010, no new plumbing
  (elev_q/ocean_fraction_q/latitude_deg already reach build_district_profile). Mirrors
  D-240's temperature model. Coefficients in ClimateConstants + climate_constants.toml
  [moisture_gradient] (provisional; Q-123 calibrates). Tuned so a wet body stays mostly
  green with drier patches and a frozen body clamps mostly barren. + gradient unit test.
- region_profile.rs: region-tier moisture gets the region-latitude gradient (elevation/
  continentality are district-scale).
- Propagates to precipitation_class / vegetation_class / morphology_zone (all read
  moisture_q). D-239 §2 amended. Believability golden regenerated.

Probe (Arbour @ yolo): moisture_q distinct 1 → 49 (spread 0 → 48); 5/7 → 6/7 criteria.
Edict (frozen): moisture 0..20 ×21 — gradient within its low ceiling. Remaining fail
(vegetation-present) is the metric dividing by all-sampled incl. water on a 2/3-ocean
world — a Q-123 calibration concern, not a climate defect.

jpmschweitzerandClaude Opus 4.8 cdc55032df feat(simulation): WaterBody voxel family — oceans/lakes/tidal flats render wet (T-1082)
The water zones (OpenOcean/Lake/TidalFlat) fell through to the dry-land AlluvialPlain
fallback, so the sea rendered as dry forested land (the D-245 believability bug).

- voxel.rs: new MorphologyFamily::WaterBody (9th family) + generate_water_body,
  dispatched from zone_to_family. Deep open water with a Shallow shoal band on the
  district-anchored coast line (wider for shallower bodies); TidalFlat all-Shallow.
  Seabed Rock (steep) / Sand (gentle) / Wetland (tidal mud); Vegetation::Barren;
  water surface elevation_m = 0; seasonal Ice via derive_cover (frozen seas). Wetland
  stays AlluvialPlain (it is land — a marsh, not open water). Integer/D-010. + 4 tests.
- believability.rs: fix a sampling bias in the T-1083 enforcer found while verifying
  this — the metrics sampled the first 64 districts in BTreeMap order (a spatial corner,
  e.g. all-ocean), which reported a forested world as "0 vegetated". Now a deterministic
  seeded spread across the body (matches D-245's "randomly-sampled locations").

jpmschweitzerandClaude Opus 4.8 c95f9d9a70 docs(governance): D-245 nature-layer believability acceptance gate + believability epic (T-1079..T-1084)
Lock the cascade's nature-half deliverable to "reads alive anywhere", not
"implemented" — the holy-grail objective surfaced by probing the generation
cascade.

- D-245 (architecture): the nature layers are accepted only when the
  believability litmus passes at randomly-sampled locations across all
  habitable bodies/seeds — multi-scale + never-repeating (macro identity,
  meso non-stationarity, micro mosaic), coherence + non-stationarity +
  intra-class variety + relief + climate-appropriateness, automated screen
  under a human sign-off, budgeted -> strict. Q-123: threshold calibration.
- T-1079 (epic, north-star, DoD=D-245) + findings T-1080 (uniform climate
  fields), T-1081 (near-zero relief), T-1082 (no water-body generator),
  T-1084 (intra-class micro-habitat mosaic), and T-1083 (the repeatable
  believability test protocol / D-245 enforcer).
- aliveness_probe bin: the exploratory probe that found these (runs the

jpmschweitzerandClaude Opus 4.8 ae7606ed83 docs(governance): address PR #169 review — reconcile sprite-era decisions + doc fixes
Tyre: D-244 now references its precedent (D-148 3D camera / D-149 live 3D characters
— D-244 completes that pivot for objects + assets) and reconciles the 5 sprite-era
decisions it touched, all amended 2026-06-17:
- D-043: 'not 3D' / Light2D scoped to overlay layers; in-world is 3D.
- D-044: sprite footprint retired (sim occupancy + visual hierarchy survive).
- D-049: z-stack logical model survives; sprite/CanvasLayer implementation language retired.
- D-066: dual-scale coordinate model + 2x2 geometry minimum survive; sprite-footprint language legacy.

Hoshe (doc QA):
- D-244 broken cross-file anchors fixed ([D-159]->scope.md, [D-241]->process.md).
- renderer/README: bare [D-244] linked; D-019->D-148 camera note; legacy banner over the
  object-sprite workflow sections; resolution-chain output path qualified.
- docs/assets/_templates/sprite.md + README: marked the template legacy object-sprite schema
  (model/texture/artwork template TBD).
