Not physically lighter, but as if some part of yourself — your strength, your vitality — has found a new place to rest.\n\nThe sensation lasts only a moment before you pull away, startled. You are faster than any Allomancer, stronger than any Thug, more aware than any Tineye. The powers of three dead men and women flow through you, diminished by the transfer but still formidable.\n\nThere is one more step. The final transformation — the one that turns a person into something the entire Final Empire fears. Two more spikes, driven through the eyes. The signature of the Steel Inquisitors. It is more like a thought that is not your own, sliding into your mind through the cracks the spikes have made in your soul. Each spike is a doorway, and through each doorway, something speaks.\n\nDestroy. Unmake. Let entropy take its course.\n\nThe whispers are gentle tonight — almost reasonable. They do not demand. They suggest. They point out how fragile the world is, how easily things break, how natural it would be to simply... let go. To stop fighting the current and let the river of destruction carry you where it will.\n\nYou know what this is. Ruin — the cosmic force of entropy and decay, the god that sleeps beneath the world. Your body has learned to burn metal the way your lungs have learned to breathe: automatically, constantly, without conscious thought.\n\nThis is what the old Allomancers warn about. Savantism. Years of constant burning have reshaped your body around the metal, fusing the power into your very being. You are stronger than you have ever been — your senses sharper, your reactions faster, your burns more efficient. But the metal is no longer a tool you use. It is a part of you. The specialist who greets you is an old woman with knowing eyes and the faded tattoos of a former Canton clerk. She has done this before.\n\n'The test is simple,' she says, placing a row of metal vials on the table. 'Drink each one. If the metal burns — if you feel it ignite in your stomach — you carry the blood. If nothing happens...' She shrugs. 'Then you are ordinary, and we never met.'\n\nThe process is not gentle. Each vial must be followed by a moment of intense focus, a reaching inward toward something that may not exist. For those with Terris blood, there is a different test — a meditation, a focus on metal against skin, a storing that either works or does not.\n\nYou drink the first vial. The metal sits cold in your stomach. You reach inward and wait."
