jpmschweitzerandClaude Opus 4.8 5fcc42bd8c tidy the theme switcher popover (T-237)
Per demo feedback on the T-234 status-bar popover: collapse the -hc
theme rows into a single 'High contrast' toggle at the top (applies the
chosen base theme's -hc sibling live, falling back to the base when none
exists); list base themes only, sorted by display name; widen 240->280
and ellipsize rows so 'Catppuccin Mocha' no longer wraps; swap the swatch
dot for the Phosphor palette icon; lowercase the bar label to match the
all-lowercase status bar (proper case kept in the a11y label).

New pure theme_families helpers (base/sibling/resolve), unit-tested.
Modal picker_view consistency + the status-bar right-alignment remain on
T-237.

Reopened fix (2026-06-01): the original fix called panels.activateTab(Slots.workspace, ''editor.active''), but _WorkspaceSlot renders its editor split off arrangement.editorOpen, NOT the active tab — so the editor never appeared. Real fix: EditorExtension.activate now calls arrangement.openEditor() on editor.opened / active-changed(non-null) and closeEditor() on active-changed(null). 1. WHAT FOLDS is a 3-level setting (conservative → aggressive); DEFAULT = level 1. Build the foldable predicate so all three are switchable:
- L1 (default): fold tool calls + results only; diffs (Edit/Write results) AND AssistantThinkingMessage stay first-class/sticky.
- L2: also fold thinking; diffs stay sticky.
- L3: fold everything except UserMessage + AssistantTextMessage (incl. diffs + thinking).
2. ERRORS: a failed/error ToolResultMessage SURFACES — treated as sticky, stays visible and breaks the cluster (see wireframe state B). Start here; the user noted some non-fatal errors are themselves clutter, so expect to tune which errors surface vs. fold.
3. DEFAULT/RUN STATE: always collapsed, showing the last line + step count, with the ticker updating live. NO setting. (Rejected auto-expanding the in-flight cluster: it scrolls the last useful sticky message out of view during long runs and only collapses when done — worst timing. Collapsed-with-live-ticker keeps the last sticky message anchored while preserving the motion/dynamism.)
Implementation home: a ''collapse adjacent foldable items'' grouping pass over ConversationController.items, consumed by ConversationView; the card is a new conversation_card variant. Keep it accessible (keyboard expand/collapse + semantics: announce step count and collapsed/expanded state).
Acceptance:
1. Consecutive foldable items collapse into one card; the collapsed card shows the latest line + a live-updating step count.

3. DEFAULT/RUN STATE: always collapsed, showing the last line + step count, with the ticker updating live. NO setting. (Rejected auto-expanding the in-flight cluster: it scrolls the last useful sticky message out of view during long runs and only collapses when done — worst timing. Collapsed-with-live-ticker keeps the last sticky message anchored while preserving the motion/dynamism.)
Implementation home: a ''collapse adjacent foldable items'' grouping pass over ConversationController.items, consumed by ConversationView; the card is a new conversation_card variant. Keep it accessible (keyboard expand/collapse + semantics: announce step count and collapsed/expanded state).

3. DEFAULT/RUN STATE: always collapsed, showing the last line + step count, with the ticker updating live. NO setting. (Rejected auto-expanding the in-flight cluster: it scrolls the last useful sticky message out of view during long runs and only collapses when done — worst timing. Collapsed-with-live-ticker keeps the last sticky message anchored while preserving the motion/dynamism.)
Implementation home: a ''collapse adjacent foldable items'' grouping pass over ConversationController.items, consumed by ConversationView; the card is a new conversation_card variant. Keep it accessible (keyboard expand/collapse + semantics: announce step count and collapsed/expanded state).
Acceptance:
1. Consecutive foldable items collapse into one card; the collapsed card shows the latest line + a live-updating step count.

- Graceful fallback: a missing/unreadable file (pasted temp files can be cleaned up) degrades to a small placeholder or the path text via Image.file errorBuilder — never a crash/exception.
- Non-image @path tokens MAY render as a file chip (filename + icon) like the composer, but image thumbnails are the focus.
- Note: Image.file reads the path directly via dart:io, so this is NOT gated by the files.read allow-list (D-80) — the cache dir is outside the workspace and that''s fine for display.
- Display-only: the text actually sent to Claude is unchanged; this only affects rendering.
Acceptance:
1. A user message with an @<path> image token shows an inline thumbnail in the log (not the raw path).
